1. Neutral grain spirits at 95%/190 Proof or better,ex... Everclear.
Isopropyl Alcohol is poisonous, why use it? Cost...? White trash beautiful, baby... wants some meth? I can't afford cocaine, gimme some crack beotch...
2. Doesn't matter how many windows and doors are open, or how many fans are blowing (are you kidding me?). One spark, just one - flash point for iso-alcohol is 11.7c/53F.
Do yourself, family, pets, friends, neighbors, fire department, police department, coroner, and dentist a HUGE favor, do this outside - please.
3. In the end, how does this differ from BHO, cold water extraction, or other types of concentrates, or hash in general?
After some light reading, the significant difference is in the technique used to extract the trichomes. That's about it, in a nutshell.
Could it be that this technique is the only method that will preserve a special enzyme or whatever, that others do not?

Butane is hazardous, no doubt given its extreme volatility, but dangerous only in the hands of carelessness. Poetic license...
Industrial gloves no doubt will protect ones hands, but I think it's a bit much. Regular work gloves, and winter gloves work just as well.
Folded paper towels, thick fabric, etc..., many items can be used to for a buffer.
Some use bare hands, whatever shakes your tree I suppose, as long as it doesn't create a spark.
