Almost there

Post by AzLaker »

Just gone done booking our apartment. Staying close to Rembrandt Square. Found a nice one bedroom apartment that has EVERYTHING we need. Smoking, balcony, washing/dryer, full kitchen (so I can save a few bucks on eating out and spend more money on weed  ) internet, TV/CD player. Went though
http://www.amsterdamstay.com and I can talk to the owner personally.
Still looking at airline tickets.....has come down some, ($65) still $1006, but betting it comes down another $50....we'll see.
Anyway....I'm almost there.

Change of plans   ....after we got our confirmation #, we were giving a google map to check out where the apartment was located.
To our surprise, we found out that the apartment sits RIGHT above a Hip-Hop bar. Now I love all sorts of music, but bass thumping in our bedroom at 3 or 4 in the morning just doesn't cut it for me or the misses.  We're glad we found this out now, instead of later. Talked to "AmsterdamStay" via E-mail and
to make a long story short, we're moving to another apartment. Basically the same set-up as the other apartment, just closer to the Dam. Apartment is right behind the Royal Palace....3rd floor with a lift and a terrence view and a couple of bikes to use while we're in town. :D :D Happy now.

Hi AZ... Just wondering about your opinion of AmsterdamStay... We're looking at booking one of their apartments in April, but i have never used them before... We were a little worried that some of the owners might be somewhat untrustworthy... Especially since many of them seem to require a 250 euro damage deposit(in some cases only returned through paypay after you leave)... Don't fancy being ripped off by unscrupulous peeps... Any advise would be welcome... Cheers!

To be honest, this is the first time I've used this company, and right now it seems to be working out great. The "AmsterdamStay" staff have been really nice via E-mail. They are quick to respond to all of my questions and e-mailed us, telling us if we didn't like that apartment, they would help us find another apartment.
Just so happens, I had one or two others that we liked, so I e-mailed them. Out of the old apartment and into the new....quick and easy. Sooooo, in my opinon, I like them so far. :)
For this apartment, damage deposit is refunded same day.

Thanks AZ... Sounds pretty good... Hope it stays that way.

Probably going to give them a try as the apartments they have on offer look perfect. Might just stick with the ones with 100 euro deposit or less to be on the safe side. Let us know how it goes. :D

Cheers again!

I was booked to stay there in may until I noticed the bar underneath and the closing times.
I changed my booking for a nice place between grey area and utopia.

Good for you. :)
We e-mailed many times back and forth, and they re-assured us that no one had complained about the noise upstairs since the Bar re-opened.
The wife was willing to take a chance (bless her soul), but I'm thinking about hearing that bass..... THUMPING and THUMPING until 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning.  That changed my mind.....let's get something else. The owner of the apartment called us the next day to see if we wanted to rent one of her other apartments and not go through AmsterdamStay, but by that time we had confimed another place and sealed the deal. All good.

I had the same email telling me that there had been no recent noise complaints but I'm not willing to take the risk as the bar seems pretty notorious and there was even a murder there two years ago.
