I was there on business several years ago. I did what I had to do, had a nice lunch on the river, and left.
It is a quaint enough small town. I didn't notice any coffeeshops. A better bet for them would be Utrecht.

Here is what wikivoyage ( a new wiki out there ) has to say.

Enjoy

You could roll your own day "package tour" loop, by bike, that would include: Muiderslot, Naarden, Bussum (w/Piramide cs), Fort Uitermeer, and Weesp.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/PyramideBus.html
Kapelstraat 43a
1404 HW Bussum

That's one of my plans for this summer, and a possible toke n spoke.
Enjoy

yup
did it.
train to weesp with our bikes
explored the town, then over to Mueiden.. great castle

tooled around the area.

rode back to Amsterdam. bring your own smoke and edibles, there were no shops.
but do not let that stop you. definitely worth it!

The towns were friendly. locals shook our hands and welcomed us to their towns - little weird actually.

It's really easy to get there on a bus from Amsterdam Amstel... Cheap and takes about 15 minuten. Well worth a visit.

Hey Gromit, that's you in the #35 jersey, correct? :)
I saw Yogi as well... :)
What a crew... nothing like cruising the canals on QD, esp. with family and friends (old and new)... :)

Enjoy Weesp...

Yep, that's Manson alright. One can only wonder who was decent enough to hook him up like that, it being his first QD and all.

Btw
You could easily bike out there too. we had tried two times previously and
Just became hopelessly lost ( which was quite fine) but we really wanted to find the castle..
So taking the train with the bikes worked well.
