Lose your iPod in Amsterdam

Post by Taylor »

This is my first time taking my new iPod with me, and I spent a lot on it. £330. I've already lost it twice, once on the bus and once at uni and thank god someone found it both times. I've bought travel insurance for my next trip to Amsterdam (may) and was wondering, what if worst comes to worst I lose it and I can't find it. How do I go about telling my insurance this, I'm terrible with this stuff, and ever since my dad passed I don't know what to do a lot of the time, I'm a teen and my dad was like my guide in life.

perhaps you could decide to leave the ipod at home and then you could travel with no worries whatsoever ... when travelling i never take anything with me that i cannot afford to lose, then i can travel without any worry and whatever stuff i come back with is a bonus

whatever you choose to do, have a great trip

Shouldn't you ask your insurance company how to make a claim?

Before you go you need to make sure your excess (the amount you HAVE to pay to make the claim) isn't astronomical.
Check that "lost" is covered. Sometimes only stolen would be covered.
After it happens you'll usually have to file a lost report with wherever you lost it (like the bus company for instance)
Never tell the insurance company you were high, they might not pay if you do.
Call the insurance company and make a claim.

Nice helpful reply from Matty there.

If you`re that bothered about losing it, best not take it with you.

No point fannying about with insurance just for a piece of Apple kit. Enjoy the Dam and what it has to offer instead of spending time staring at a tiny little screen . If you want to see a film, go to the cinema and have a better experience.

I lost an Ipod shuffle after leaving it in Rusland a few trips back (I couldn`t be bothered to go back to get it lol), and although I`ve since bought a new one, I haven`t used it in the Dam as I prefer to have my hearing to listen for Trams, Cars and bike bells.

Good advice about going to the cinema and seeing the sights. Lock your Ipod in your hotel room and just use when you're there. That's what I do with my Laptop

Hmm... good advice people, I really want to take it with me, but I think I might invest in something to keep it on my person all the time. The arm band sounds good, I never really thought about that! I will head up the insurance company, because I certainly don't want to ruin my credit score in any way (if you can) because it's a nice 998 :)

Thanks for the help guys! I really can't wait to go back, I had to stop myself from packing today because I realised it's 4 months away!!

For the record, thanks for the concern about the age thing, but I'm 19 now and I'll be 20 in April! :)
