Lazerbeam - Great reporting from The Promised Land! You are far from old and, as the cliche goes, "It's just a number." What's important is your state of mind and you seem to be in a good place. At least you have some experience and perspective that will serve you well. I didn't even really start to get into the Amsterdam coffeeshop scene until I was about your age. This is one place in the world where I could give a $%*! what other people think. Keep tearing it up and enjoying your freedom with absolutely no self-consciousness whatsoever. I actually think it gets better as you get "older." My worst trip was when I was much younger. My best trips were in my mid-30's through mid-40's - especially the solo trips.

Dude, when you get the munchies you don't fool around! Glad to see some of my favorite cs's, including Grey Area and Kadinsky, still providing the goods. I've also sat right next to the fish tank at Hunter's.

I'm really enjoying this report! Your writing style really transports me. (I have a soft spot in my heart for amnesia haze/black hash joints.) Can't wait to read the rest. Thanks! :)

Writing style? Didn`t think I had one, it`s all freestylin`from some childish scrawl that I managed to take in the form of notes when there. Thanks for the kind words - I enjoy your posts too. :)

Day three in the land of hazey dreams and kushy encounters.
Up at 6.30. Quick smoke and load up on the full on breakfast. Conveniently take my beanie hat down with me, which comes in handy to stash ham and cheese rolls in to take up for later. Lovely breakfast as always, I`m first there all wide-eyed and stoned looking for easy pickings. Prefer to be there when it`s all fresh and nobody else has sneezed on it or whatever. Stuffed again...What is there to do? Anyday is a nice little coffeshop opposite the hotel and they just so happen to have copious ammounts of marijuana and hashish to sell, so I`m there at the door for the 10am opening, all wide-eyed and stoned again.
Wrecked already, I float straight up the stairs and manage to open the coffeeshop door with the power of my mind alone and am greeted by a female dutch budtender. `Guten morgen` I say, not sure if that is dutch or deutsch, oh well, let`s see what goods are on offer here then.
Weed and hash were the priority today for a change, so I purchase half a g of Cheese and a nice little chunk of Reserva x. To be honest, I have no real recollection of what the cheese was like, but I do know that it was turning into a really cheesy holiday. The Reserva X was a hard little piece of hash, which definitely gave me a feeling of peace.
There were two dutch customers at the counter talking about the British P.M, David Pig-face Cameron, I again reservedly stay out of the conversation, instead mountaineering up the spiral staircase to the empty upstairs. Here, I`m just sitting at the table, hearing songs, wishing I was able or stable. On the other side of the street are some red-light windows, I can see a young lady standing in the window with red stockings with her leg up over her radiator, trying to keep walm. Wise girl.
I stay for a smoke of the Cheese, yes mixed with some Res` X for good measure before floating down the spiral staircase for a 2 minute glide in the chill to Utopia, The girl in the window still looks cold. And bored.

Mauro is serving up at Utopia and I have a coffee coupled with more spliffs. Get talking to three lads from Salford, who are in town for the first time. I mention ACD and one of the lads gets on his smartphone to look at the map page; `Oh my God! There`s loads of `em (coffeeshops) look!` he says as he`s showing his mates the map. We have a good chat about the dam and I start talking about ICE hash as they said they`d never really smoked any. Within a minute of me mentioning the FIRE ICE at Utopia, one of the lads is there at the counter spending 30 euro on a gram of it! My recommendation must have been good - I`d not even tried the Fire Ice one myself! I mention he could have got half a g and he said `Oh, never thought about that. thought you had to buy a gram`. Guess lots of people think this. The Manc lads get stuck into their White Widow and Fire Ice, in a bong from Mauro. Unfortunately, i didn`t get offered a blast.

I chill at Utopia for over an hour watching the comings and goings. About 7 young British lads come in badgering Mauro for weed all at once. He spends the next 10 minutes or so sorting them all out with various types of weed. The lads end up coming over to sit in the window seats, taking up loads of room. They have loads of stash and all sit round examining their weed in silence. Time to move on.

420 Coin isn`t far to walk so I`m back there again for some lovely hot chocolate to wash down my spliffs.
I`m again sat in the window seats by the radiator nice and warm, just drifting in my own thoughts when suddenly there is a big crash next to me. I jump and quickly look to my right, the nice lady who works at 420 had knocked a big glass ashtray off the high table right next to me. She apologised and I drifted off in my hot-chocolate, hashy dream again. Proper stoned now. So I smoke a few more joints, before going to Ny Pizza on Damrak to get a freshly made 4 cheese pizza to take back to my room.

I get back to the hotel at 6.30 pm, munch on the pissa and immediately crash out until 1.30am

Wake up a bit surprised to see that I had slept through my last night in the Dam and all coffeeshops were closed.Oh well, I still had some AK47 from Greenplace left. I`d smoked everything else. Not sure how as I`d scored at least 3 grams today, but it all got smoked. I really wanted a beer to go with my last gram of AK47. luckily there wasa vending machine in the lobby, so i got three heinekens, two for each pocket and one to walk and drink. I built a joint, put on my down jacket, thermals, hat, scarf, gloves and ventured into a late-night RLD.

I walked around for a couple of hours. I saw this Chinese guy going into a kamer saying `Hooow mach?` to one of the prostitutes, then coming straight back out again with a stupid look on his face. He then crosses a canal and goes straight into another Kamer, presumably prefering what was on offer over there. There were loads of Chinese in the RLD, obviously celebrating the start of their New Year.
Freezing cold again, a bit bored of Chinese people watching, and wanting to build a joint I go back to the hotel to toke away the night. Unbelievably, at 6.30am I `ve finished all my weed! Without a smoke in Amsterdam! Shocker. Unforgiveable.

Oh well, I have got munchies again and breakfast is in half an hour. Then the coffeshops open. Being without weed for half an hour should be ok. Worst things happen at sea.

Nice reading I can see some of the pitfalls of some of my previous trips, I hated it when I fell asleep for a whole night 7pm to like 2 in the morning. I also had high hopes for the Reserva X from anyday but agree with your opinion that its really just averagly decent rather than highly regarded as it once was.

Nice story telling none the less.

Cheers for comments. Res` X was a bit disappointing - sure I `d read on `ere it was a good un.

Woke up at 1.30 am, but still had a night on it. Was fun.

So here it is, day 4 and last one in the dam. I finish breakfast at around 7.30 and go back upstairs to catch a few hours Zs, before checking out. I half-sleep until about 11.30 and then head to Kadinsky.
It`s a bit warmer out today, no where near as cold as yesterday`s minus 7. There are two local durch customers in the CS and I acquire 5 grams of Trans Himalaya black hash for 46 euro. I grab a coffee to go with it and sit off for half an hour to smoke some hash for second breakfast. Not wanting to sit and chill as I only had this last day, i build one for a walk and head down the Rokin toClub Media

It takes 20 minutes from Dam square to De Pijp`s Club Media and it`s worth the walk through the snow. Despite so many tasty weeds to choose from, I`m taken witha gram of Amnesia Haze for a bargain 10 euro, I`m buzzed into the main room by the Italian female budtender and take a seat at a big table by the entrance. First impressions - nice spacious, modern coffeeshop with an extensive menu and funky staff.

I roll up some Haze and mix it with plenty of T.Himalaya to chill for an hour or so in De Pijp. Ah , last day in the Dam...
