1974: 1/4 oz bag of English homegrown from a mate's back garden, no buds, just leaves, 'cured' in the airing cupboard. I didn't even smoke cigarettes 'cos i was a fit lad & into me sport. Didn't know how to roll a joint, used one of those cigarette rolling machines to make a single skinner of pure leaves out in my dad's shed. Smoked it all & felt nothing - assumed I'd been ripped off (again - £4) Just left with a disgusting, metalic smoke taste in my mouth that I immediately dashed upstairs to brush my teeth and get rid of.

Staring at myself in the mirror (as you do when brushing yer teef) I suddenly realised my mouth had turned into incredibly flexible rubber, which made me crack a grin that rippled all the way to my ears and made them waggle at me like a demented Yoda ('course it was a bit before his time, but you get the picture). Spat the toothpaste all over the mirror & mums makeup etc. & spent the next hour trashing the bathroom trying to clean it all up & cover my tracks.

Well & truly converted :D Life was never the same again.

Great thread!! First time was at 13 just before my first concert. Pot was some Mexican brick weed that as I found out later was to become the standard for east coast U.S. First concert that followed was Cheap Trick with Blue Oyster Cult headlining. Laser show was something! That was either 1977 or 1978. First Amsterdam smoke was Red Cherry Berry from Barney's oct 2011. Good choice after a 20+ year layoff. First green was Florida sinsemilla, probably Skunk around 1981. That was the best ever!

First smoke, ground up leaves. Managed to roll a huge joint and after sharing it with a friend, I couldn't get out of our tent 'til the next day (we were camping in the desert). Un-fucking-believable cottonmouth within minutes; warm Diet Coke had never tasted better...

First named weed, Skunk #1 grown in a closet in my mother's apartment, had to drill some holes in the walls to run a 6 inch diameter pipe across the room to the window

First 'dam weed... something in Centraal, mixed with Temple Ball, guess I couldn't wait to try either weed or hash

PS: Rusty, "shite-bar" is just hilarious

I'd smoked a little a couple of times, pretty crap stuff. Third time out, got some thai stick, actual twine and stick on grey bud to my recall. Blew a jay, rode home on my bike, it was absolute flying. Had some ice cream, swam in a nice headspace. Would've been around 1980.

Have had a love for mj ever since.

As someone who discovered this wonderful plant somewhat later in life than most of you guys (well, in my late 20's anyway) My first experience was sitting on a beach in the South of France at sunset with a lovely Dutch girl, (who I'm still very happily married to some 30+ years on!!) a lump of some high quality but unnamed Morroc hash and a poorly constructed home-made bong that she had 'come into posession' of. Much to my embarrassment in front of this young lady I proceeded to throw the first and only whitey of my life! (them was the days!!)

It was during my exchange period in Germany in the summer of 2005. We lived in dorms and my housemate was dealing some... so, finally later that summer I suddenly thought to ask if he got any, and he rolled a reefer from bud. took a few hits and began to feel very strange... I initally felt a little paranoid but quickly learnt to love it. The strain in question remains unknown, doubt he knew it either.

A few weeks later I went to Amsterdam for the first time with some buddies cause after all, it was quite close geographically speaking... and to make it clear, I had never before expessed any intersted in weed at all and didn't know much about it. We stayed at hostel Heart of Amsterdam, and I bought my first weed from an unknown cs close by... it was small, had a lot of flashy red, green and blue lights... counter at the back and a true jamaican feel to it... but I didn't figure out the name of it. The strain, however, was AK47. Having moved back at the hotel room, it didn't take me long to pass out and make clown out of myself by muttering some strange stuff before i fell unconscious. I smoked way too much. Good, strong stuff and very, very sticky. 8) And good memories.
