Just a thought about vacuum purging ethanol (grain alcohol) extracted hash... It's not necessary. The reason you want to vacuum purge butane extracted hash is because at room temperature, the butane is a gas and is trapped inside the hash. The vacuum helps break the surface tension, pulling the bubbles out through the surface.

Since any alcohol will be liquid at room temperature, vacuum purging it won't really do anything to separate the alcohol out. If you were to purge with vacuum and heat, I think it might speed up the process as the vacuum will lower the boiling point of the alcohol.

I am discovering that it is possible to make a top-quality product with ethanol that compares will with butane extracted hash. What I've been making lately tastes clean, doesn't pop or hiss at all on a skillet or nail, and leaves no residue. I also like that the shatter is really easy to handle at room temperature.

My initial plan was to use low heat in combination with vac, but a problem has been acquiring a heat platform that is accurate at temps between 90-110F.
I don't want high temps that would otherwise compromise the trichomes, ie... total decarbox, when it's not necessary.
To add insult to injury, I used a manual vacuum pump designed for bleeding brakes. I read of people having limited success. Talk about low-rent...
I've done some additional light reading since my less-than-stellar attempt, and have found reasonably priced equipment that suits my needs.
I think once I acquire the proper equipment and find my own style, I'll be able to minimize the number of times I fall on my ass.

Ron,

Do you store your alcohol in the freezer prior to extraction? I have found that keeping all materials as cold as possible during the process really improves the purity of the end product.

Dont mean to go off topic but I always thought dry-ice method is one of the easiest ways to make hash from leftovers:

Im nowhere near the skill levels of USBL or UR but for simplicity and not having to fuck around with solvents and such like, the above is another option worth considering

I would recommend makeing some bubble hash, useing bags and ice. I made two lots from my outdoor shit and got about 10g of different grades, its so nice, reallly limey and proper strong. I probably washed up about 80g for 10g of hash. I'm not really a fan of hash made with alcohol, all the ones I have tastes, taste like white sprite, really strong but nothing on taste compared to bubble bags imo. You can buy them on Amazon.

You are correct..simple but dirty,BUT,ya gotta crawl before ya fly,so get on with it and let's see what ya can do...had to wipe the puke off my iPad,I glanced at Ron's pics again ...

I was going to grab one of these until i learn more, they any good??

That is what I was thinking. Now I have to get one too.

I went with an Exotic Zombie box to up my kief production. Made with stainless steel screen, and california redwood. Grinders just miss to much... Will press every once in a while perhaps. Not sure yet.

This was my try at QWISO today , shook trim/buds for 40 secs then strained through coffeefilters (matter remover so only liquid) , decant into Pyrex dish for double boil evaporation

This is what I came up with a nice shatter , first time Iv achieved these results I usually get a sandy like texture
