Music Selection

Post by Ray Symbolic »

Could somebody recommend a coffee shop where they might be receptive to plugging in an IPod and playing it for a little stretch? It is never easy finding the perfect place where good herb and just the music you want to hear come together. Hoping there might be a place that wouldn't mind a little mix up to what they normally have playing. Thanks for any recommendations.

Good luck with that... From my experience bud tenders have a religious connection to the tunes played during their shifts... Maybe if you spend a lot of time in a single CS and get to know the guy pretty well... And then, only if the place is empty.

Like i said, personally i doubt you'll get what you want... But best of luck to you... Let us know how it goes. :D

Dare I suggest you do the decent thing and avoid subjecting others to your no doubt frightfully good taste in music by listening to your ipod with earphones? I know it's the done thing these days to make sure the rest of the world can hear your music/phone conversation but maybe on this occasion old skool politeness is the way to go

Pretty funny that a guy who names himself after a musician would lecture me about my taste in music. I asked a simple question and have no interest in subjecting anyone to my music. My assumption is that there might be a shop that doesn't particularly care what is on and would be cool with a customer enjoying some of his own. So, I asked. Big fucking deal. KeyMonCha gave a reasonable answer and then you come on like a real creep. I guess this makes sense given that your apparent cause of choice is freeing convicted murderer Phil Spector. Waste.

i would say alot of coffeeshops wont have ipod docks.. tbh i dont know.. maybe make some cds up with a printed playlist of tracks. and if the coffeeshop like it they will most probably play it (but shouldnt expect it) good luck, but in a worse case scenario take headphones

Ideally, you want a smoke friendly apartment with a CD player.. Smoke all you want in the atmosphere you require... Try looking on Amsterdamstay.com.

What one of the dudes said above is on the right tracks, get to know a bt well, talk etc, if the shop is quiet then ask if you can plug it in. Almost got my old school gangster shit on at Betty's but the iPod stand couldn't hold the iPad up.... A word of caution this is only after about 10+ trips to Betty's, fortunately same bt virtually every time I went in. More likely to happen in smaller shops, when quiet, bt has same taste in music and if u are a good customer.....But as the saying goes no harm in asking.

Don't know about you but I don't go to Amsterdam to sit in my apartment listening to the same music I listen to at home. I can stay at home and do that. It probably is the only way to listen to what you want though. From experience the music in coffeeshops is crap bar the odd good tune. Then it's straight back to the crap again

Ray, maybe give us an idea of what music your into then maybe you could be pointed in the direction of a shop with similar sounds? Even so as others have said it's all down to who's working at the time. Music in a single shop can vary greatly from hour to hour

On a serious note  it's not really gonna happen is it? Chances are there'll be other customers in there anyway, and I cant think of any other establishment you would walk in as a paying customer (pub, restaurant) and ask them to put your music on.
