Why do I bother eh? You're all talking about how closed shops should be shown on the map and you don't even look at the bloody thing!treetop wrote:I've been off the map for a while now. It never did help me find La Tert anyway.
@treetop - did you have the map the right way up?!
On my first trips to Amsterdam I navigated using the brilliant cartoon map from Mellow Pages. It was brilliant in that is was colourful and funny. It wasn't so brilliant as a map though and I wandered off in several wrong directions.
Now my mental map of Amsterdam is navigate by coffeeshop - it's just opposite shop X or turn left at shop Y.

@lemming - you do it for the newbies. There will always be newbies and they just LOVE your map. Those of us who have been visiting for a couple of decades, don't need it so much.Lemming wrote:matty223 wrote:actually Lem i havent looked at the map in at least 2 yearsLafe wrote:In fact the map is SO good I have not looked in yearsworldcitizen1723 wrote:yup, like my companions- it's tattooed on my brain. guess i never downloaded the updates : >Why do I bother eh? Re: Closed shops in Amsterdam and Rotterdam?
Sorry if there's already a separate thread about this but could someone explain the apparent impending coffeeshop cull at the end of this year? Does anyone have information on it and/or which ones are predicted to go down? Or how many? And why??
Once again, sorry if this isn't the right thread but I'm not sure where else to take my query

Currently stoned and too lazy (or vise versa) to read if previously mentioned, but this gave me an idea...
...closed coffee shop crawl.
Travel to the various locations, perhaps take some photos, possibly spark up a joint, and move on to the next...

This. Except do it before the end of the year. Say a fond farewell to the loved, a salute to the rest. Good or bad it is never a good day when a coffee shop closes IMHO.

Re: Closed shops in Amsterdam and Rotterdam?
Gierenest on the Amstelveenseweg has closed. A couple of months ago Basjoe opened on the same location.
Re: Closed shops in Amsterdam and Rotterdam?
Hi spitta
Are you saying that that Gierenest is now called Basjoe?
I've done more updates to the shop pages and map.
Please keep the info flowing.

Noted on the way past during my last trip that one of Easy Times or Tops now is imaginatively called "Super Skunk". Pretty sure it was the one on the left (Tops) but I'm sure someone else could confirm...
