True. Know what you mean about using the roach as a pulley. Need to make sure it is of a sufficiently springy material but not too springy. Helps create a nice gentle cone as well.
Yea you know the score treetop! I find rizla boxes to be perfect. Soft enough to roll a round roach yet stiff enough to hold its shape during rolling and enough spring to make a nice tight roll around the roach.
When I was back rolling I thought the difference was incredible. That was until I had a lazy night and rolled normally. I could tell no difference so I carried on being lazy

Grunt, I know what you mean about breaking the habit. It took me a good few weeks to consistently remember to do it

Really? I dont think its that hard to lick it first. superior skills maybe? No there was always a bit by the roach i couldnt get right licking first. Thats the only bit i did your way
20 years of smoking and i still can't hand roll... Dunno why, but i always manage to mangle it into a misshaped, variable width tube of paper... Most of the weed ends up back on the table. Think i must have some sort of deficiency... Thank god for rolling mats!
(incidentally, it took me over an hour and a half to find a rolling mat in Amsterdam last visit... Most of the headshop guys said that either no one uses them anymore or, at least three guys had NEVER HEARD OF THEM! ...What's up with that?)
So I tried again and it didn't work out too badly. Not too well either
It stuck then it came unstuck then it stuck again and I had to use another gummy strip to repair so I ended up with the same paper but more on the filter area as a repair!
The thing is I got to the point where I can roll pretty well the other way unless I'm totally wankered so getting confidence in the other way is going to take a hands on lesson I'd say.
