It's changing coz a few shops are gonna close Na nothing major most of them shops are the pits anyway, Colorado in 10 years let's hope its still going

i am friends with a family member of one of the saved coffeeshops and was there when a sms was delivered to the family got the good news, it was a very happy moment for them all.....

This is awful. I am going in January and wanted to return to utopia, could not book there and this is why!
I feel robbed I had some green there and forget the name it was like Jack something? Anyone know if utopia is relocating?

What date are you going mate? If it's early january and it's still the school holidays Utopia should be open I think.

They'll be open as usual on weekends also. After 6pm on school days though.

Utopia is Open until end of 2015 but only from 6pm to 1am starting 1st Jan 2014, regular hour during week end or school holiday

Mellow Yellow, Vijzelgracht (Opened in 1967, this was the first licensed coffeeshop in Amsterdam)

Just like to point out the mellow yellow opened 1973 and the one now open has no connection with today's shop other than the name!!
And it was never licensed as it burned down in 1978 and licenses were not issued till 1995
the first licensed coffeeshop is @16 rusland strat having the number 001 (still open)
the original mellow yellow was @ Weesperzijde on the amstel.
and was opened by Wernard Bruinin
a guy who went to usa after the fire and is reputed to be the person to bring what is now nederer weed to holland.
i think he still runs Positive Grow @ Cornelis Trooststraat 33
it used to be the sensimelia fan club a members coffeeshop!but anyone could join.
i am told there was a bowl of shake on the table for people who didnt have a lot of cash.
anyone know the number of the licence @ todays mellow yellow??
i got most of the info from the great book The Dutch Expierence, The inside story: 30 years of hash & grass coffeeshops in the Netherlands. by Nol Van Shaik
