I hope you find out more soon because I for one do not want to pay $50 to meet up there for a t&t on Friday. If its $50 then we'll have to come up with plan B. :? We went ahead & got the 2 day HT cup passes. I have lost every cup tshirt I ever owned so I figured it was time for a new one  Cant wait to get this party started!!!!
I posted a link to where you can purchase tickets above. Here is the link again http://cannaval.nightout.com/
Thanks. I saw the link but dont want to spend another $50. Was hoping maybe there will be other options available other then a $50 ticket at the venue. If not, we'll find somewhere else thats smoker friendly to meet up with friends 8)

Yeah same here, I'm gonna skip Denver if it's just this and High Times. I'd like to support Hoodlab, but $50 is waaay too much to pay to just hang and smoke. eMail or message them on Facebook and maybe if enough people do, they can work a price out that skips the rides or something.
Milehigh suggested Corvus, the coffeeshop on Broadsterdam (the dispensary section of Broadway), that might work for a meeting place. It's a little bit of a walk, but you can take the light rail from Evans/Broadway north to near where the Hoodlab and High Times parties are.

BigDanHaze wrote:I have no problem with an admission charge. And I am for one glad that High Times is putting on this event...Are they "Cashing In" yes but it does cost to put these events on building rental, event staff, and electricity etc.....NOTHING is FREE..do you get free rent, electricity, food etc...!!?
Some of you people crack me up, no matter what, you have some negative thing to say..whatever..... Im going and Im spending about half what Amsterdam costs and I will have a blast!!
I will probably skip the cannaval though as Id only spend maybe an hour or so there and unless they are giving away a large bag of herb with the admission then $50 is way too much to just sit around and smoke some herb. On second thought after checking the event website it may not be that bad a deal after all, theres games and rides (20 tokens for rides/games included with admission) and concerts including DJ Premier so If it's your thing it might still not be too bad a deal for some.
See ya'll there!
Good points which I mostly agree with, but what about those with limited resources who would like to participate? Stoners or fascist capitalists?
"Cashing In" may be appropriate, but how about FLEECING? Hmm, I think I may be on to something... and the sad part is that it seems to me that many stoners don't give a damn. Shame... Listen closely and one should hear, the flipping over in graves of stoners dearly past, shoving a mighty middle finger up in never ending defiance. :(
My apologies, but your "Cashing In" comparison isn't even weak, it makes no sense. Business expenses versus cost of living expenses, nah, not even close.
The event could be free admission, or nearly, please read on...
Here's an idea, but perhaps greed got in the way though - SPONSORS. The sponsors would pay for the costs associated with hosting the event, and if there are musical acts, a minimal door cover of $5, which ALL $$$ goes to the performers.
I would like to attend the events in Denver, but two things got in my way...
1. Integrity. I made a commitment to share an apartment. What kind of douche would I be if I bailed, er... cancelled at the last minute?
2. Ten hazy daze in Mokum is cheaper for me than it is to fly to Denver and stay only four. Oh BTW, I didn't add in the additional cost of rental car and fuel. After all, it's America, most mass transit sucks ass, especially when comparing Denver to Amsterdam.
Hmm, apples and oranges - both are round, sweet, and healthy. :)

In fact booths are available, I would imagine not cheap, so I consider this a form of sponsorship.

Agreed, not to mention driving around the city and looking for parking kinda sucks too.

I just can't support these high cost events. I'm bummed, but it's a matter of principle. Not to be a downer, but Denver ain't even in the mountains, so it's just another smoggy city full of traffic. At least Amsterdam has cool architecture, canals, good transit and awesome cafes. Well maybe next year or Hempfest.

Well, no Geoffk. Denver is a beautiful city, very easy parking, great mass transit and most area's are walkable. We even have B-cycle. Short term rentals you can ride from place to place. You just check them out with a credit card. Great parks, shopping, night life in multiple areas, and we are at the edge of the mountains and enjoy the best of both worlds. It's 70f here today and 35f or colder in the mountains. You can claim 3000 ft in 15 minutes when you head west. So you must of had a bad experience or just not spent any quality time here,

I will be chatting with the organizers of the Cannaval soon and see what's up. I am only disappointed because they had many opportunities to talk about fees before now. There will be plenty of other places and it will be a great time.

Not a bad experience, just lived there for four years. I'm biased but the best thing Colorado has to offer is the outdoors; hiking, skiing, biking, rafting, etc. Sorry if my rant is too negative

Hoodlab has responded to a couple of Facebook comments requesting cheaper tickets and an option to NOT purchase tokens. They say "For sure, more info will be released soon ..."

You really just cant compare Denver to Amsterdam. But right now we can smoke weed in both cities without fear of going to jail!!! This year, its alot more economical for some of us to travel to Denver for some 420 fun! Some fun things under an hour away that we enjoyed when we lived in Denver: Indian Hotsprings in Idaho Springs- funky indoor spa pool, Buffalo Bill Museum on Lookout Mtn, The Bucksnort for great burgers in Spinx Park. I'm ready now!!!!

Just want to add my two cents,

First it is absolutely amazing that we are able to have a cannabis cup in the USA  thank you CO & WA

Second the world is watching, and the one common denominator is Money  . Economic impact is measured from a starting point. Every $50.00 ticket represents about $200 in actual spending. made up the second number, it is probably a lot larger than $200, more like $500-$1,000 but hopefully you get my point  . Have fun, spend money, tip your servers, and start the economic ball rolling to total legalization in the USA and the world

Wow if I was in the US I'm afraid Amsterdam wouldn't even be on my list this year. Have lots and lots of fun making history and all that stuff :D. I'm sure pretty soon theres a lot of us going to be heading your way across the pond for a change  :D.

Blue skies :D.

My Amtrak railpass dream has just come a little closer to happening :D :D :D :D
What a long strange trip it is.

Nearby Nederland, the town, has been pot friendly for a long time. It would be a nice place to visit. Here's an older NY Times article on the town: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/08/us/po ... .html?_r=0
Maybe the first town to push for retail sales: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/1 ... 02447.html

Aspen has held the Cannabis Crown event, previously only for med. users, and it appears this year it might be open to the public. The website is vague: http://www.cannabiscrown.com/western-sl ... rown-2013/

LOL yes I agree there is a money grab and some money grubbing in Denver. This is no different than Amsterdam though, home of the 2 euro tiny-assed 8oz warm sodas and per gram the weed is way more expensive than Denver especially considering exchange rate and not to mention the other myriad of tourist traps in AMS. Don't get me wrong I love Amsterdam and always will but where theres money to be made people will take advantage where they can.
The biggest advantage I have is that I can bring herb and seeds home with me, I need some new genetics bad!, oh and btw Im driving not flying so no airport headaches.
For DUR and USBL I think you guys are too negative in alot of your posts but I believe you are both very knowledgeable on herbs, just would like to see more positivity coming from two of the more dominant forces on these boards. I Wish both of you were coming to Denver CC cause I think that would be an interesting t-n-t especially if usbl brings his friend along...Spoon!!

Anyways, Looking forward to Denver and meeting some of you folks!! Just 30 days to Launch!!!!
