Looking for a new first shop of the trip...

Post by la2019 »

For the first 3 trips, we always made Central our first stop. It was close to our boat, and we could go, drop our bags off, and head right over there. They'd open "the box", and we could sit and watch Amsterdam go through its morning as we enjoyed our first smoke of the trip. Loved that.

THIS time, we're staying near the Rembrandtplein. We still want to drop off our bags and get checked into our pad before hitting a shop (want to be free of ALL cares for that first toke). There are tons of places around there, but many of them seem a bit questionable. So what I'm hoping to find is a place that's a little open and airy with decent quality. Doesn't need to be mind-blowing; we'll have 5 days for that.

I guess a shorter way of asking this is, anyone have a shop that they like to go to in the morning (10ish) around the Rembrandtplein?

I'm only posing this as a forum question because, basically, I'm incapable of thinking about anything else but my upcoming trip in 3 weeks!
Thanks!

What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.
You can see who else may be in town and any Toke & Talks that are planned.

Stix is not too far from you.

Hey there FBN - we arrive 3/14 and leave 3/19.
We've never been to Stix but I've always wanted to give it a try!

Not sure about opening times, but yes, Styx particularly if you get a window seat. Barneys is close, so is Old Amsterdam.

I am _not_ a fan of Bushdocter.

You have been posted on the March Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop (your favorite)
and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to show up, if they do you'll have a
T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... file&u=605

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.

Of the shops in the immediate vicinity of R'Plein ...I'd choose Seville ...it does offer outdoor seating. Stix has good wares , but its just too small , and their sales tactics ("a gram of White Chocolate Please" ...scale reads 1.6 grams , oops , is this OK ..."I said a gram "...1.3, Is this OK ... forget it ,walks out door)... If it was me I'd just walk the extra blocks to Nieuwemarket and make my highly anticipated first CS of the trip Hill St. at the Market ...

Stix always tries to load more onto you than you really want - having said that , the staff are invariably kind and friendly when you say you "mean" a gram and no more ,and the products are great. l The local Barneys is very good.

I think it's just the northerly one that changed to Solo, the one near Nieuwmarkt.
