I was unfortunate enough to be alone in 'dam recently - I say unfortunate because that isn't how I planned it, it just worked out that way. After the first day I was ready to change my flights and GTFO of there, but I knew there was a T&T planned for the next day at Voyagers, so I thought I'd at least check that out and meet this guy who spends a helluva lot of time on here and is always helpful.
I got to Voyagers the next day and asked the BT if they knew anything about some ppl meeting up from ACD... i got a bit of a blank look at first, but then something twigged and the BT yelled out something in dutch to this little indo-chinese guy sitting on the bench seats with a couple of others - it was of course Gapie, along with Eurotripper + wife. I won't go into the details of how the afternoon played out, I ended up bailing early anyway due to a combination of a bad sleep and being a relative lightweight compared the company I was with.
But I will say this - if you are ever in 'dam, alone or not, try and hang with gapie if you can. He's one of the funniest guys you'll meet (I still laugh when thinking about his rendition of 'old man gapie' rolling his first joint of the day
So thanks for making my trip that much better, and seriously dude you should start your own 'coffeeshop tour' thing for really small groups of 3-4 people (smoking required!) - I'm sure loads of people who go to 'dam (but don't hang out on here) would be more than willing to part with some cash for that experience, especially nervous first timers.
