I usually stay with friends over off of kostverlorenkade, so i have a wakeup blaze and start walking towards the center of town--cruising up westermarkt, where i stop in at Der Winkle for breakfast. Continuing my walking sort of aimlessly about(almost my favorite thing to do in the dam)i end up at Basjoes for a coffee and mid-morning smoke, and journal writing. If the weather is good i might rent a bike and head north across the ferry and ride thebike trails along the water towards Ransdorp. There are lots of happening spots for a roadside toke&space along the way.
Once i get back into town, I drop off the bike, and perhaps go to visit friends at the Melkveg and have dinner in the cafe there. Aftewards its off to try to snag a good seat at the old church for the casual descent into evening. Hopefully Lazy Sunday Dream, or RootsClub are playing at Malo Meloe--great music to hang out around. The evening can end, depending on my legs, with a ramble about the rld, or a casual quite stoned walk back to the house for late night videos, tokage, and snoozing.
this is pretty much the template for a great day in amsterdam! I also like to hit the parks, museums, and lots of different coffeeshops.

Ideal Day
Wake up in a sunny apartment, make my own breakfast and some really good coffee, roll one, watch Dutch TV and understand every word they say (I only achieve that occasionally). Head out, get on my bike and pick up a space cake on the way, cycle over to Sauna Deco for a couple of hours to relax. Cycle down to the Amsterdam Bos, lay out there watching beautiful relaxed people, vogels, clouds until late afternoon. Cycle over to Albert Cuyp Straat check that out, visit that coffeeshop I've never been to, buy a few second hand Dutch mysteries or something from some vendor who both compliments me on my Dutch and gives me a break on the price. About 2000 hrs, go see Nilgun Yerli at De Kleine Komedie, and after the show bump into her on the street and she agrees to have dinner with me (yeah, it's okay Nilgun, bring the hubbie along) and we talk about the state of the world and maybe write a song, drinking a couple of bottles of wine. And all in Dutch. They say, sure we'll come visit you in the mountains in America, and I say so long, and head back to my warm apartment, where I roll some Grey Area stash and watch De Passievrucht on the DVD player, and since it's not better than the book, I feel the world is as it should be and fall asleep.
(P.S. Mvr. Yerli - I'll be in Amsterdam later this month)
