Could be a good sign of things to come, especially regarding the closures in the Dam!

Translated:

In the city of Groningen come two new coffee shops. Mayor Rehwinkel gives two candidates, who are still on the waiting list, permission to a coffee shop to open.

It comes to the location of ' Dr. Else ' in the Gelkingestraat and to ' The Glory ' in the steentilstraat. Coffeeshop ' Dr. Anders ' recently closed on its own initiative, where ' The Glory ' was closed by order of the Mayor.

The Council decided last year not to issue new permits related to the arrival of the "grass pass". Now this plan of the course is, the number of coffee shops in the city according to Mayor Rehwinkel rise again to the maximum number of 14.

Anyone know whether anything happened on this?

I still have Dr. Anders and The Glory marked as closed but this article seemed to suggest that new shops might be opened at their locations.

I believe The Glory is now a Shisha bar, if that helps Lem!

Made trouble in province Groningen as bordering ones recently and had this thread in mind.

Firstly as sadly you can remove coffeeshops 'Upper 10' and 'De Stoker' from the list of Groningen coffeeshops, Lemming. Former one because of what seemed to be an personal agenda of one Mayor a couple of years back(again with the help of fucking phoney bibop law : http://www.dutchamsterdam.nl/259-bibob )finally coming to a sad result this year. Latter one I found closed and was told owner passed away in the beginning of 2016 probably not to reopen again.

Talked to the guys at Retro since I knew they just opened about two or three years ago(what said article above sort of refers to)and they also mentioned this decission of 14 coffeeshops maximum.
So minus Upper 10 and De Stoker there are currently 11 coffeeshops in town so in theory three new licences you can apply for. That's what these guys told me but on one hand I strongly doubt they will grant a new licence to an new owner at the very same location Upper 10 once was and on the other hand wonder why nobody applied for the other licence since Retro opened(what said article above sort of refers to) as coffeeshops, apart from all those semi-legal law issues of that grey area bullshit, tend to be places where you can make a lot of money and there are always plenty of people around being ruthless enough.
Maybe they will grant a new licence for De Stoker but personally think even though not impossible it seems to be complicated. More likely there will be only this one licence available not granted respectively applied for yet(again said article).
Latter one was commented by Retro guys with the fact it's a lot of hustle to open a new one(again phoney bibop law is probably involved)but again if there is relatively big money to be made there are always people willing to do this job. Time will tell and fingers crossed.
Retro definitely does a good job since opening.

Will update my own thread and bomb your mailbox with some other shit as soon as I find time as am quite busy at the minute and have loads of shit to do, Lemming. Hope it doesn't take ages.

Until then here's a small preview of a rundown little gem we found along the way while setting you guys on the wrong track  :
