For about 10 or 15 dollars more than the Quentin Arrive, you can stay at the Hotel Nadia. It's close to Paradox and Dam Square. You get your own bathroom, too. Breakfast is included. Last I heard, they let you smoke there if the windows are open.

The thing about staying so far out is you lose the eu on travel expenses and also time traveling. I'd opt for a cheap option centrally.
Saw this place the other day. Cheap I thought. Good location too.

I'd book that then have a play on Priceline bidding once your dates and flight are confirmed to see if you can score a 4 star room in a good area for 40-50 eu a night if you want to treat yourself.
Best of luck and I hope you enjoy your trip.
ps - I like your title.

What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the
Whos In Town page.
You can see who else may be in town and any Toke & Talks that are planned.
Enjoy

Did you read the reviews of that place? It's rat-infested, at least according to four recent guests. Just sayin'!

It is 30 eu a night for a reason then.

I'm booked in. Can cancel but so cheap maybe if I bring the rats some cheese or something...
If I see any rats I'll let you know.

I wish you luck, sir. You'll have something to tell the grandkids someday.

I just read the hotel reviews. There is good news. There are no rats. Only mice.
Quite a few reviews do not mention mice so i figure if I ask for a room without mice it might be a 5 eu extra charge but worth the money overall don't you think?

Good point, you got me on a technicality. The "having to hold the bathroom door shut will sitting on the (shared) commode" bit would be another deal breaker for me. But some are more finicky than others, I suppose.

We always use the Quentin hotel group, the arrive is very convenient considering its Location on Harlemeerstraat, close to Centraal and surrounded by at least six coffeshops. The rooms are nothing special but do the job, ours had been redecorated when we stayed this month. The toilets and showers are shared but are cleaned everyday, I have never found them filthy so no issue there. Also it is cool to smoke as long as you do it out the window as the fire alarms are quite sensitive.
I have stayed in the Low budget single at the Quentin England before, this hotel is situated between the Liedesplein and the Vondelpark, it's a much quieter area but not hard to find. I was not impressed with the room but what do you want for the price! It was in the basement and quite damp and the toilet/shower though in the room was rubbish and very loud. I really only slept in the hotel room so I just got on with it. You can not smoke in here as the window does not open. I was supposed to stay in their budget single room, which is upstairs, in December but they upgraded me to the hotel Quentin. I remember having a couple of crazy mushroom trips in here.
The Quentin is the most expensive of the three and also the nicest. It's just of the Leidesplein overlooking the Singelgracht, it was also the first hotel i stayed in over ten years ago so i have fond memories. the single room was a good size had a nice view and it's own shower room. We have also stayed up in the loft it's a suit for four people with a large bedroom for two, with sofas ect and a second smaller bedroom just for sleeping.
Use the arrive it's the best price and location, the staff are friendly you will have a good time, especially if you hit Le Grotte up over the road for you wake and bake and breakfast. I just wish they had a spare room in any of them next time I am in town, I am having to take my custom elsewhere, I will return to the quentins again
