I miss Mokum

Post by Smith2 »

I went to Amsterdam for the first time in years in November 2011 (been meaning to write a travelogue for some time now) to have at least one trip before the wietpas, which looked like being 2012 then. After that turned out to be wrong, started going nearly once a month in 2012, to do all the things I'd missed in my youth (used to stop off between trips between Berlin and London, which I did a lot back then) before possible wietpas in 2013.

What put an end to that, and made my Leeuwarden/Mokum trip of last November the last for some time, wasn't the fact that the wietpas turned out not to affect most things – one of my cats was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which isn't life-threatening but which does mean two pills a day. Nobody who looks after them when I'm away could do that, so here I am, grounded not by the heavy hand of the law, financial straits or lack of holiday time, but by a furry parasite.

Anyway, after a year of having a fair selection of smokables around most of the time, a break to get rid of the tolerance was probably called for. Turned into two and a half months. I had forgotten what life could be like when I phoned my one source for the first time in months with some trepidation yesterday. He might have been working outside London, as he's done for weeks or months before, or I might hear those dreaded words, 'Sorry, got tired of the hassle, not doing that sort of thing any more. Maybe I can hook you up with someone else, I'll give you a bell.' And they rarely do.

But no, he could come round with the classic cannabis strain Takeitorleaveit. This time it's dried greenery that people would laugh at in A'dam, and there's not much smell and no discernible taste. It gets the job done, and that means an awful lot after a break, but it's not the most brilliant high either. Sometimes his offerings are better, sometimes worse, but he's rarely out of stock and, miracle of miracles, he turns up when he says he does. I should count my blessings. But I do miss relaxing in a comfortable seat in a coffeeshop, trying a new mix of black hash and superior bud in a pipe.

I have the exact same situation, one feline who needs her thyroid medicine twice a day.
If you care to discuss, PM me.

As much as you miss Mokum, I'm sure Mokum misses your € just as much.

Put the cat into a boarding cattery for the week. They will make sure he gets the pills. That's what I do with my dog, he loves his time in the kennels
