Let me tell you, Tiesto, AVICII, Deadmaus, Guetta, Swedish house mafia and all that stuff is preprogrammed commercial shit on the level of Katy Perry.
Also not saying that it was better back in the day, because its great now. There are so many great labels, clubs, producers, etc putting out great music that does not shit on the legacy laid down by the goddfathers of house, techno and disco (all black guys from Chicago, Detroit or NYC by the way). But you are right, back in the day there weren't stadiums full of teenage girls and roid heads listening to some French loser remix tired r&d tunes, or some clown in a mouse suit push a few buttons.
Dance music comes from the underground. Every decade or so it get 'popular' then fizzles out for another trend, but the true fans stay true...in dirty nightclubs and warehouses, not some fucking faux rave thrown my a mega corporation in a stadium. ADE comes a hellava lost closer to a real dance music party because its held anything goes, real underground and held in some of the worlds best clubs (trouw, paradiso, etc) for music, not bottle service wank jobs.
As for drugs, if you party with blow, then I guess Miami is your place. Personally, if I am gonna imbibe, I would prefer to use the crazy pure MDMA, acid and damn good weed you can find in Amsterdam.
