Does your friend want to use it out and about, in public places? Or more for around the house and taking to friends places?

There are many different options. Some portable vapes are better for stealth, but they generally sacrifice a few features and ease-of-use, eg Magic Flight. Others are more featured, but they tend to be larger and more conspicuous, eg. Arizer Solo. There is no single "best" portable vaporizer, they all have pros and cons...

Cool... Good to hear he already has some experience with vaporizing. the Magic Flight Launch Box is always a safe recommendation, its pretty hard to go wrong with it. Comes with a Lifetime replacement warranty, even if you drop and break it! Can be a little fiddly to use until you get the hang of it, so if your friend has a short attention span/is impatient, I wouldn't recommend it.

Arizer Solo is also a very solid and proven portable vape. Its a little on the larger side, so not particularly stealthy. It has a glass mouthpiece/bowl, so gives excellent flavour. The draw speed is a bit slow, so you have to inhale fairly hard to get good hits. Imagine pulling a thickshake through a straw to get an idea. However, there are custom stems available with extra airflow that solve this problem. But thats an extra expense and hassle. The Solo is good for connecting to bongs, there is a GONG stem available.

The Thermovape CERA looks very exciting, but its not quite available yet, so I can't give my personal opinion.

The PAX is actually pretty cool, but also suffers from the slow draw speed. It also needs frequent cleaning, as the airpath tends to clog with oils fairly quickly. Its also a shame the battery isn't removable, so once the battery goes flat you're done. The PAX does have quite a large bowl which is cool... you can pack quite a lot in there, which is enough to keep you vaping for a while.

Let me know if you're curious about any other options....

I have an iolite and the magic flight. Both are nice, but the best at the moment should be the new davinci vape if money is no problem.

cheers for the info guys, the more options the better though. i lent him my magic flight and he couldnt get his head round toking it proper. the main stupid reason he dont like it is it looks cheap, must admit he will love the look of the ascent one. also size isnt a problem as long as its portable if there are any stupidly massive ones on the market

Well after about 6 years of vaping with the MFLB the Iolite and the WISPR all of which I would recommend, I've been taking a look at the electronic machines.

The PAX looks OK but it has a problem with the retractable mouthpiece/on-off switch which get tarred up and stuck after a few uses.
It is recommendable to clean Pax after each use with a dry Q-tip and a dry pipe cleaner (supplies enclosed with the device) while the unit is still hot to prevent a build up of sticky gunk.
So I'm quite tempted to try this one, the ATMOS RX VAPORIZER DRY HERBS KIT http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATMOSRX-ATMOS ... 56545d5fca

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has tried them :?:.
What a long strange trip it is.

Here is a new option which looks really really good. Its been described as a Magic Flight on steroids (because of the 5 second heat up, and the way you only activate the heat while inhaling, instead of being 'always on'). It has a massive bowl, which suits me nicely :) It also works with solid concentrates, ie. hash!! I was thinking of getting an Arizer Solo for myself but will most likely get the Flashvape instead. I like that the Flashvape batteries are removable, unlike the Solo (so you can buy extra batteries for all day vaping on the go). The only downside is that you can't connect it directly to the mains power, to use as a home vape. The Flashvape is made in Canada. There is an optional S2 kit which turns it from a conduction to a convection vaporizer, and apparently improves the vapor production considerably.

I haven't seen them available from EU retailers yet, but you can order directly from the company.

I swear by the MFLB. The warranty is a lifetime one. Even if you accidentally break it yourself they will replace it.

Its nice to hear so much praise for the MFLB :) I'll always have a space for it in my collection. So simple, reliable, stealthy, amazing flavour, and really does get you wasted. I'm now on my fifth Box, which should say something about how good they are!!
