I've used the Solo over the weekend and gave it some testing. I'm very happy with it so far. Although I've bought it as travel vaporizer, it's totally capable of serving as an all around unit as well.
Never used the older models, but the new one has no hard draw resistance at all, actually almost as smooth as toking on the Extreme Q (standard) whip. The downside to this is faster battery drainage, since the heater needs to work harder in order to keep the chamber up to the set temp. Looks like you can get a maximum of 3 (group) sessions out of one charge. If you use it indeed solo you'll get about 5 sessions. The higher battery stress will most likely result in shorter durability. I hope it will last me for a while.
edit 1.2: I think I found the reason for the high airflow with my solo. I mostly used the bent stem because the straight one felt too loose in the unit. The thing with my bent one is that the edge of the herb chamber isn't totally even - as if it was slightly molten on one side. My straight one the other hand does contact with the heater so the airflow feels pretty restricted when it's not pulled up a little bit.

Got a Da Vinci Ascent last week. Overall I'm fairly happy with it. Good taste, digital variable temperature, decent but not massive clouds. Downsides are it leaks smell, cooks the herb a little too quickly and is a bit fiddly to load. Was a toss up between this and the Solo. I might just get one of them too...

Well, my happiness with the Solo turned into anger after less than 4 days. Everything still works totally fine BUT I felt something on the bottom plate of the unit... so took out my little scope and... there's a tiny crack running all along the edge below the serial number. So this crack will turn into a bigger one until the bottom is totally messed up. Only a matter of time before royal fuckery goes down... I know it's not like a 10 grand high end machine, but you would believe €200 will get you at least a year of usage out of it. I took good care of the unit and never put it down too hard. Now I wonder if I should try to return it right away or use it a bit longer until the damage is more obvious.
Thank god I still have the Extreme Q... If I could go back in time, I would wait for the next model of the Solo or go for another portable.

I have a N0 2 Vapir. It's alright. What made it better the other day, was I attacked a lungee. A lungee is a dry bucket bong, a bucket bong with a bag to pull the smoke for you instead of the water. Well it made good bags, good enough I might not but that arizer now. I think you could set one of these up on most portable vapes.

I wrote Arizer about the issue and included some pictures showing the damage. Here's their reply:
Arizer Tech wrote:Thank you for your email.
I'm sorry to inform you but the hairline crack in the bottom of the Solo is not repairable because the bottom panel is part of the faceplate, which is permanently attached to the circuitry. This type of issue is purely aesthetic and will not affect the structure or performance of the unit in any way!
If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.
Best Regards,xxx
Now this is not exactly what I wanted to read... matter of fact this sucks. So even if it looks like shredded shit one day, its not "repairable"? I didn't ask for repair, but wanted to return my unit to the vendor (made that pretty clear in my mail). Any advice about this guys?

Who did you buy the unit from? Where u located?
If your from UK vapefiend will most likely sort you out if you purchased from him.
Seems to have top quality customer service

My Extreme Q was from an authorized Arizer vendor and I'm sure they would replace it without any trouble. The Solo however is from a headshop in Germany. If I am lucky, they might just return it for me - I actually hoped for Arizer to give me a green light to bring it back to the seller. Will bring it back anyways, and if that doesn't work sell it for €180 or something.

Picked this up for $10 yesterday. Obviously for oils only, the thing I like about it is the "wick" is a screw in replaceable coil that prevents it from leaking. The only drawback is the coils are $2 each while you can pick up the disposable tanks (although the have the propensity to leak) for about the same amount.

My fault, I guess I misunderstood the title of this thread.

My solo also crapped out on me, fortunately it was still under warranty.
I'm actually quite pleased it happened as Ive been sent the new improved model as a replacement. Better airflow and usable while charging! Also it now has a nicer 'satin' finish. It landed today so looking forward to getting home to test the improvements.
I have a solo, an ascent and a pinnacle pro. While they are all great in their own rights, the solo is the stand out winner in all areas except for portability. That was before the improvements... It must be a beast of a vape now!

better airflow?
how so?
my glass stems have 4 holes
its pretty loose when you're using it.
i never use the additional o ring for it (got it with the improved airflow stem which i cant tell the difference with)
i got the wall unit power pack... its basically a PC powerpack... plug it in and instant power... no more need for batteries... but i did buy a replacement batter too.

Hey dconstrukt, I really don't know how, but that is their claim. Supposedly it gives better vapor production too! Looking at my replacement I see no obvious difference so it must be something internal that they've changed. The guys at fuckcombustion.com seem to think the difference is noticable. Quoted from vapefiends website "The Arizer Solo units we sell are the brand new 2014 edition- model M1T or later. They can be used while charging, and they have improved airflow to the herb chamber for better vapour production."
I've never used an o ring either. Being honest, I dont know what their purpose is other than stopping the stem from spinning round, which doesn't matter to me as I use the straight ones anyway.
I have a pvhes stem also, but I actually prefer the stock ones. Pvhes are great for new units when the stems are still tight but other than that Im not really a fan. My abv is much darker using stock stems.
