Stay awake for 24 hours or longer before you fly so you have no choice but to sleep on the plane. Other than that, have an alcoholic drink or two and drop a couple of valiums, you won't care about anything after that combo.

I think its about confronting your worst fears to overcome them. Yeah some of the situs are very scary but they also make you realise just how safe air travel really is (as you get to see the myriad of safeguards in place to stop your plan falling out of the sky) and also how skilled pilots are at overcoming problems.
If you can put some of the more unpleasant espects of those shows to the back of your mind (

) greater knowledge of how it all works is a major factor to feeling more safe I reckon. For example, I've seen loads of people shit their pants when the plane 'clunks' as the landing gear is lowered - not me
I also had an aborted landing about a year ago and nearly everyone on there shat it when we began a rapid and rather violent climb when coming in to land in a rainstorm - they were scared cos they didnt know what was happening. I knew, cos I'd seen a similar incident on a documentary a few days earlier, and I was pretty relaxed about it (admittedly I'd eaten a lump of Afghan at Schiphol before leaving so was fairly relaxed anyaway

)
Good stuff. I was thinking of watching La Bamba and Final Destination again. I think I have a problem
