Left the flat at 0445 and cabbed it to the airport arriving at 0500, through security with the grumpy faced fucks annoying everyone and after a swift coffee took off promptly at 0600. An hour later I'm buying train tickets and walk out of Centraal Station with the commuters at 0840. 48 hr travelcard and I'm off to dump the bag at the hotel near Vondelpark. Having done that walk back to the Leidseplien and tram it up Marxinstraat to Rozengracht and amble down it to the small tobacconists just this side of Prinzengracht. Got him to put 1kg of rolling baccy to one side for collection tomorrow. Walk back up a bit, turn right and Paradox was just opening.

First things first, coffee, juice and the menu. 5e of Turkish, 0.6g. 5e of Kandy Kush, 0.4g. That's the bedtime smokes sorted out. 1g of Thai and roll it up pure to start the day. Always like the Thai here. Nice steady uplifting high, little body buzz, very smooth. Chilled for an hour to a Jazz radio station watching many locals buying and flying or stopping off to burn a quick one and get a coffee. Time for breakfast.

Wander down Prinzengracht arriving at that gem of a shop La Tertulia. Mother was in charge so two toasties a banana and orange smoothie and in keeping with the fruit theme 1g of Mango Haze, 12e. The Mango Haze was smooth tasting, well cured and produced a wrap around high. A new strain to me but it was a superb haze. Functional but high and stoney at the same time. Time to check in.

Back to the hotel. The Sipermann is now non-smoking after having a state of the art fire detection system installed. Bugger. Less of a bugger is the balcony on the room I have. Wey-Hey. Take a stroll through Vondelpark and burn the rest of the Mango Haze watching the wildlife and the fair Amsterdam maidens. The only downside was that with the easterly winds the heavy departures from Schiphol were routing directly over the park. Back to the Centrum.

Kadinsky, Buy and fly 1g of Sahara Blue hash. Utopia to buy and fly some Wappa for another member and bump into Stan. We share a coffee and look at the 10g+ bud of Wappa in the tub. A beauty. No spliff as I was longing for a beer with one. Bit early for tNes so over the road to HGF and some SSH 1g, 13e. Walk up towards Centraal and into The Flying Dutchman bar. Grab a beer and go downstairs to the smoking area. Nice and comfortable, plasma TV. Share the SSH with two Canadian lads. Not the best example but good to rest the feet and before too long the g has been burned. Another beer and the munchies set in. Tram to Dam.

Wander over towards Nes and dive into one of the steakhouses close to there. Too mashed to remember which one but a decent steak later it feels time to go back towards the hotel and CS Tweedy.

Notes are a bit like shorthand now, so I think I got a g of the house weed, price unknown and sit for a while pondering why Amsterdam's football team is named after a household cleaning powder. I then realise that it is close to the time that I will make a complete cock of myself by falling over or making improper suggestions to unassuming ladies so off to Overtoom and the stoners paradise. 24 hr shop. Gather a selection of snack food and fizzy pop and meander back to the hotel.

Up the single flight of precipice like stairs and settle down with the patio windows open and build up the Turkish. BBC News Channel on. It is a good clean quite intense high that has me thinking what a knob that North Korean baby faced twat is. Only 2100 but Sailor is flagging. Roll up the Kandy Kush and put the National Geographic channel on the TV. The Kush hits the spot within minutes and I wake up at 0030, finish the spliff, shut the window and climb into bed. Day two later.

Other side of the road from Hotel Abba and down a bit. An open all night store with beer, juice, snacks etc.

Day two.

One of the benefits of being a middle aged lightweight is that crashing at 2100 finds you awake and ready to go at 0700. Bit early so down to the lobby and feed the machine with Euros until you get about a pint of espresso. back to the room and fashion a breakfast from cereal bars, cold meats and cheese. Roll up a nice one with the Sahara Blue and wait for the sativa to kick in. 15 minutes later with eyelids drooping I realise I should have read the menu better. This is no sativa. Oh well, let it ride.

Shit, shower, shave and check out. Back to the tobacconist who seems surprised I have turned up. Get the kilo of baccy and he drops a few lighters and a pack of Marlboro in the bag along with his number to ensure he has sufficient stock for my next visit. Top chap. Stow the gear in the suitcase and bang over to Centraal to locker up the case. Down to Kadinsky and check the menu. Yep, the Sahara Blue is a indica dominant hybrid. 1g of Nevilles Haze sorts that out at 13.5e. Good clean high and leaves me well energised. Tram to De Pijp.

Into Papillon. Love this shop. Great vibes and the tender is mega friendly. It's quiet so 1g of the Power Plant and it mixes well with the Blue hash. Chill for an hour reading the paper and sipping divine espresso. It's after 12 so I hop off to Yo-Yo. last trip the Durban Poison was the surprise weed. Still have it on the menu so 1.6g for 10e. Two toasties and a fruit smoothie. The Poison is a weird weed. Looks a bit like a dark Grinspoon and crumbles easily, no real need for a grinder. Smokes quite smoothly and after 20 minutes quietly lifts the back of your head off. Sat with an old timer who smokes kif out of a long traditional wooden pipe. Smelled delicious. The Poison is giving me itchy feet so quick march round to Media.

1g Hindu Kush. 11e. Buzzed into the smoking area and it is very quiet. Rolled one up and let the Kush overpower the Poison. An Italian couple, first time in the Dam, turn up. They stumbled on Media while lost. I congratulate them on their good fortune, pass on an ACD map and highlight the good shops. Although my flight back ain't until 2100 I start to get that nagging feeling. Hate it to bits. Say goodbye to the couple and tram it back to the Centrum.

Back to the Flying Dutchman. Grab a beer and rummage in the pockets to find about 5 baggies with varying amounts of gear in. Roll a random fattie and watch a recorded footie match on the TV. Determined not to be depressed I make a total arse of myself by being beaten soundly at darts by two young Liverpool girls. Time to go. Leave the remains of weed and hash along with a grinder, skins and tips with the girls and wander back to Centraal. Train to Schiphol.

Airports are expensive but unlike most Schiphol ain't a rip-off. Up to the Panorama Deck on the third floor and into the restaurant there. Steak Tartare on rye foccacio with black pepper mayonnaise and baby leaves with a large beer. 14e, bargain. Suitably refreshed I made my way through passport control to the Yotel. Last trip, despite being clean, I sent the dogs crackers at St Pancras and got well shook down. Rather do without that tonight so for 15e I had an hour to shower and change into clean clothes. Feel much better so another beer and a oude geneva before a quick flight back. Typical, customs is deserted.

Best weed - Mango Haze.
Best Hash - Turkish.
Fav Shop - All of them.

I deliberately avoided Voyagers this time as usually I get mashed in there and all good intentions and plans disappear in their excellent smoke. I will be back there soon.
