Here I Go Again: The Progress
Re: Here I Go Again: The Progress
I make it a point to get photos of the lizard park whenever I get to A'dam. Thanks for shooting the video to remind me of some of what I am missing. Some day, I shall return....
I may be stoned, but don't take me for granite...

This little park just adds to the surrealism of the Amsterdam experience. Thank you for viewing and for the kind words. I have more video coming soon.woodz60 wrote:I make it a point to get photos of the lizard park whenever I get to A'dam. Thanks for shooting the video to remind me of some of what I am missing. Re: Here I Go Again: The Progress
Hey geekymonkey! Thanks for checking out my video. Last year, when I walked down to Rijksmuseum to shoot the video at the I am Amsterdam sign, I walked by this park and wanted to go back by there after I had finished the shoot at the sign but, I got distracted by... something and ended up walking back to the hotel by a different route. So I missed that opportunity, but it is the most unique work of art I have ever seen... I just had to get back there and record it.geekymonkey wrote:Those statues look real. The 2013 Visit to Grey Area Coffeeshop:
I arrived in Amsterdam on Saturday, 13 April and soon after meeting gapie at Utopia we left to go to the Grey Area. This was a fairly amazing experience and to be honest, it has been several years since I spent any appreciable time in the Grey Area. Let's face it, the seats are some of the most uncomfortable seats in any coffeeshop... however the amount of business this shop does is nothing short of astounding. The place was packed when we arrived and the budtender greeted us warmly as we took seats on the uncomfortable metal stools. I shot some video while we were there, being careful not to show anyone's face. Overall, a great experience.
Finding the Grey Area:
The Grey Area is tucked away just inside Oude Leliestraat off the Torensluis bridge over the Singel canal. The Torensluis was built in 1648, it is an arched and exceptionally wide bridge. It is the oldest remaining bridge in Amsterdam, and also the widest bridge in Amsterdam.
The landmark you want to look for is the bust of Dutch writer Multatuli. The bridge, also known as Brug 9, crosses the Singel near Dam square, at Oude Leliestraat and will lead you right to the Grey Area.
The original music is performed by Kevin MacLeod and it is provided royalty free from http://www.incompetech.com/

Great video, thanks for producing and sharing....
Make's me feel like I'm back and also adds to my frustration waiting the three weeks until I get to return!
I missed Grey Area last year due to the lines. I was there during the start of CC and the line was literally down the street....
I'll be there again this month no matter how long the Q is though.... There are a few items currently on the menu I want to try.....
