I love Amsterdam but it's not viable for me to spend 58euros just to take a train up there every week or so, and I have been looking at places closer to me (southern Belgium)...
Does anyone know how easy it is to score weed in Southern Belgium? Curious as I'm going through a French speaking phase and it would be nice to combine it with a weed smoking phase.
Extreme sarcasm ahead...

I know exactly how easy it is to score weed in Southern Belgium, it's extremely easy.
All you have to do is drive/train/bus/bike/run/walk/crawl/swim north a couple of hours at most, cross the border into The Netherlands, and then to the nearest town that has not implemented the weed pass. Why bother going all the way to Amsterdam when equal or better quality at equal or lower prices can be had elsewhere?
...and as far as supporting your local dealer, fuck them. They definitely are part of the problem and not the solution.
If you or anyone you know decides to go north, have a good time, and above all else, respect the locals.
See, too easy.

Talking of solutions there are multiple solutions that in UR's words are 'too easy'
For example all CS could become member places with tourists allowed to 'join' on a daily pass that costs say 5eu. The money goes to the local municipality to offset the inconvenience/wear and tear of the 'tourist' numbers.
There are a variety of measures like this which could be easily be implemented to the benefit of local people who have to put up with this nuisance.
Instead....
This is clearly not a solution in the traditional sense of the word. It is a ploy or device intended to create an even bigger problem in order to justify more draconian measures later. Guess what folks. It is working.
People need to wake up and smell the shit that these politicians are peddling first of all. Then there might be a real solution forthcoming.

Tourist cannabis cafe ban leads to surge in dealing in the south
Saturday 11 May 2013
The decision to ban foreigners not resident in the Netherlands from the country’s cannabis cafes has led to an ‘explosion’ in drugs-related crime in the south of the country, the AD reports on Saturday.
The government’s decision to turn the cafes into members’ only clubs in the southern provinces last May led to a sharp rise in street dealing, the paper says. It bases its claim on police and city council figures.
In Maastricht, at the forefront of efforts to reduce drugs tourism, the number of drugs crimes has doubled over the past year while in Roermond they are up three-fold with at least 60 active street dealers, the AD says.
Dealers
People living in border areas report that drugs dealing has moved to other parts of their neighbourhoods and have moved into residential areas.
Nevertheless, Maastricht is holding firm to the policy of banning non residents from so-called coffee shops and has threatened to of the city’s 13 cannabis outlets with a three-month closure because tourists were allowed inside.
Currently, coffee shops are licensed to sell small amounts of marijuana and cannabis for personal use. And while possession is not legal, the police turn an official blind eye to people having less than five grammes.
Officials in Amsterdam and many other towns have already said they will not implement the ban on tourists and will instead take advantage of the legal provision for a 'tailor-made' approach to the marijuana trade.

Maastricht mayor takes on street drug dealers
Thursday 16 May 2013
Maastricht mayor Onno Hoes on Thursday declared a fight back against the growing violence caused by street drug dealers.
Street violence and agression has been growing since the introduction last year of a law banning cannabis cafes, known as coffee shops, to sell soft drugs to non-residents.
Hoes told Nos tv the level of agression from drugs runners has reached unacceptable levels. He is allocating extra police agents to the problem with immediate effect and is increasing the number of volunteer community police in the affected areas.
The ban was introduced in the southern provinces last May and went nationwide at the beginning of this year.
However, many cities, including Amsterdam, have said they will take advantage of provisions in the law to tailor-make policies for their own situations. In effect this means tourists have not been banned from the capital's coffee shops.

I can´t trust my eyes guys... it looks like that the major of Maastricht maybe will not control the
I criteria (only people who live in the netherlands are allowed to buy in a coffeeshop).
In an interview he said that he has not enough police man to fight against the drugrunners and
the coffeeshops. So maybe the coffeeshops will be allowed to sell to tourists again in the near future...
Another reason for that is that the Coffeeshops of Roermond, Sittard and Geleen sell to tourists. And the major of
these cities do nothing... because they are happy with that (less drugrunners and so on).

UPDATE
bad news... The Major and the council made an agreement. 3 Shops have to move
to the end of Maastricht and maybe will be allowed to sell to tourists.
It´s an bad agreement because the Major get all he wanted and the shops nothing^^ only the statement that they "maybe" will be allowed to sell to tourists is a joke.
Furthermore the shops have to stop selling weed to tourists directly!!!
The Coffeeshop owners said that they don´t stop selling to tourists! Because when they stop... all drugrunners are back. Furthermore the major tried to stop the removel of 3 Shops with an
secret letter to the "Raad de Staat".
3 hours ago the dutch police made a raid in 2 Coffeeshops of Maastricht (Easy Going, Heaven 69)... marc josemanns the owner of Easy Going had been arrested (temporary). So I think they will try to close the Shops for 3 months... and the owners will go to court again and usually they will win that!
So at the moment 7 of 13 Shops are still in business.
Ah an important thing is that they only sell to dutch and "buitenlanders" (germans and belgish) at the moment. They do that with regard to the court procedure (I am no friend of that)...
and they sell only 1-3gramm a person
