First trip to dam FINALLY (30th May - 2nd June)

Post by Amarsbar »

Having missed opportunities to go for years because of being a broke student and not having many friends who smoke, I've finally booked my first trip!

I've been lurking the forums for a little while and the reviews, travellogues and other content has got me really excited for the trip. At the moment it's looking like Voyagers will be my first cs EVER - straight from the station with suitcase in tow - before we check in at Lazy Monkeys (anyone have any experience with this place?). Then I'm looking to check out grey area, 1e hulp, paradox, utopia, club media and dampkring of course! All off the back of what I've read in these forums, so thanks for the information.

As for non cs related activity, going to check out Rijksmuseum and going to the Lente Kabinet Music Festival on June 1st.

Anyone got any good restaurant recommendations? and which cs' would you recommend buying and flying from and which are definitely worth a sit in? Cheers, and hopefully see some of you then!

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the May Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop (your favorite)
and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to show up, if they do you'll have a
T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... e&u=109707

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

LM looks like it might be a part of Amsterdam Escape :? looks to be at the same address .If it is , right turn out of Voyagers , keep walking down until a few doors past the China Town Supermarket  106
If it is , we stayed in the basement snug last year & loved it (again if it is the same building) hopefully the rest were just as nice if not better .
Word of warning if it rains , which hopefully it won't may/june but Dam you never know  a huge puddle will form right outside , mind passing cars  trust me on this  .
When we stayed , Perry was living in the 1st floor apartment & sorting all the checking in/out , if's he's still doing it you may well have a bag of weed waiting for you  again if it is Perry it may well be SLBH from Voyagers , he loves the stuff
Nice area , Solo & Green Place are worth a visit but my number 1 pick would be Hill Street Blues@Market ,right out of apartment & it's down on the right , you can't miss it  lovely place , stellar menu (SSH consistanly good , HillStreetSpecial back on the up , very nice nepal/polm at times , great place to chill

Enjoy your trip

I think you are correct about LM, the location seems the same as what you've said, I shall steer clear of the puddle! Nice one for the Hill street recommendation, I'll definitely check it out. Going to take my camera so hopefully will make a nice little travel log. 1 month today

Voyagers is great shop, great bong selection.
I recommend Paradox for their space cakes.

Iv recently been for my first time. Best advice is, get the ADC CS map up before you leave and screen shot it a few times as not everywhere has wifi, and there's no Internet when you're wandering the streets.

Also if you're flying with KLM, they will offer you a snack, sweet or salty. Choose sweet, trust me. (It's free)

Have a great time dude
don't trust anyone who approaches you in the street, as beautiful as the city is, there are a lot of dodgy characters that will ask you to help them out one way or another

Watch out for the bikes too, silent but deadly

Post a travelogue after, love to have a read. This is site is all I go on at work

Cheers for the map advice, didn't even think about google maps needing internet.

Unfortunately I'm flying with the ever classy easyjet, where nothing is free.

I was meaning to pick up space cakes for the Rijksmuseum trip, will make sure I grab them from Paradox! And yup this site is all I've been looking at in my spare time at work since I've booked.

Haha sounds just like me. I had so much planned and didn't do any of it in the end, but still had a great time. Iv wrote my travelogue up from my first time if you want to see how we did it.

The reason I said about the flight was they offer you a snack called stroopwaffle. Look out for it at the shops, its like a caramel waffle sandwich

You can cache the maps on your phone and GPS will still work as well.
