I suggest Cafè Schiller http://www.cafeschiller.nl/ (the website is in dutch  )
Not exactly cheap, but unmatched art deco atmosphere and very very good food.

Not a fancy spot, but I'm a big fan of Wagamamma. Fast and friendly Ramen spot just off the square: wagamamma.nl

Also not too far away is De Pijp with lots of yummy eats, including one of my faves, Wild Moa Pies.

Have fun!
