Re: Conundrum
what does "going dark" before harvest do to the plant, inquiring minds want to know

They must find it difficult, those who have taken authority as truth, rather than truth as authority
Re: Conundrum
If it was harvest time, I'd go along with the "period of darkness" before chopping because at worst it can't hurt. I think it's a myth though and makes no difference.
But at 2 weeks before harvest the plants are still adding mass to the buds, trichomes are maturing, and they're presumably not flushed yet. I'd hit them with lots of ph'ed water, enough to run gallons out the bottoms of the pots, then let them stay on their normal light cycle as long as possible before chopping at the last minute, jarring up the buds and freezing, with the goal of making concentrates at a later date. If you have an area with 65-70% relative humidity you can hang them long term, but they'll lose much of their smell. You'll still get high and it will still smoke well.

Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?

Re: Conundrum
Just flush the shit outta them abd leave them be till you get bk another little tip a FRIEND had to do in the same situation is get a five gallon bottle of water and pierc a needle in making sure a drip is coming out every now and again should stop the plants from drying out but wouldnt be ideal if the lights left on or you could put in a window for the last few weeks and let it finish up that way again i dont know wat setup your using or if its poss jyst an idea ps worked fine for a FRIEND who had to go away for a week or so hope i helped a little

So did the man in this scenario end up doing, hypothetically?

Re: Conundrum
The man had a hell of a time drying the last plant. It was about 10 days off being ready when chopped after a long 2 stage flush and a period of darkness that was shorter than desired.
DIGRESSION****About that longer dark period before chop the man may have used this technique this time and may indeed notice a higher resin content on his buds. However in all honesty without a side by side test it ends up being attacked as conjecture. Mostly by 'unbelievers' who have never tried it or by those who think their way is 'perfect.'
Plenty of 'conjecture' out there about this subject on the intrawebernet though. I've read quite a few posts from folks saying they think this method works well for increased resin production as well as some science stuff about the crap being in the roots during dark and chopping after a dark period produces a cleaner better taste.
Who you choose to believe is 'up to you.'**** DIGRESSION ENDS
The man says 'It can't hurt to try.' But what does he know?
The man had to rush dry one part of his harvest unfortunately the timer just ran out on him. 57g wet became 22g dry after having to resort to the microwave. The man thought that if the green was not dried properly it would be finished by mold so he went the other way and over dried. Shame really as the green would have been good the man thinks.
The rest of the green was put in Mason Jars and stored in a cool, dark place. About 13-17 degrees with 40-50 RH Used strips of newspaper and some rice sprinkled around the jars to help keep any damp away.

Re: Conundrum
Just to update - The results were good. The man is happy. The item that needed to be dried in the microwave came out better than expected. The others fared well and the man is currently enjoying the terps from a 6 week cure.
How much did you produce?
Re: Conundrum
6 week cure sounds like it will be getting pretty tasty. Not like the 1 week cured stuff that ends up on floating around in the UK
