Friday 12th July to Monday 15th July

Post by Spaldwickapeface »

Well the time since my last trip at the end March has dragged but finally the summer stay is nearly upon us. It is now about time to start trawling the forum and the menus page looking for inspiration and ideas. So much to do, so little time. So far my plans look like this

Day one Friday 12/06:

Myself and two friends are booked onto the morning flight from Southend that should get us into Schiphol for about 9:30 local time. We use Southend as it takes all the hassle out of flighing, 10 minutes from the front door to the departure gate, then it's only a 40 minute flight! Once we have cleared security it's onto the 300 bus to Haarlem, we are staying one night at the Van der Valk hotel to the south of the city; the hotel is a bit classier than what we are used to 4star but at only €33 each for our triple room we can handly complain.

We are able to reserve bikes through the hotel so we can easily get to town and back. I intend to visit a couple of coffeshops in the morning, Empire for the first time and the wonderful Birdies, fingers crossed for a good supply of Jelly (though that will be saved for smoking in the evening). I would also like to grab a beer and some lunch from the Jopenkerk, a brewery that is located in an old church, it sounds like a nice place.

After lunch we are due to play our annual crazy golf tornement the 'MidgetGolf Open' this year at the course in The Haarlemmerhout park, I am hoping that my performance enhancing hash will be the key to my success. Following the golf it's just a case of chilling out, hopefully I will find time to visit the large Willie Wortles in the south of the city.

The excitement really starts for me in the evening, with one of my best friends flying in from Australia and meeting us at the hotel. Once we are freshened up its off to the Grote Markt for beers and people watching, no doubt with a few pre rolls in my box. Also a quick visit round the back to coffeshop Join Us will be in order, before we head to Tierney's Irish pub near the red light district, I am led to believe that this is a smoke friendly establishment (I will report back on this). Then we see how the night pans out before the swerving cycle hide back to the hotel.

You have been posted on the July Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop (your favorite)
and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to show up, if they do you'll have a
T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... le&u=78967

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

Enjoy

Day 2: Saturday 13th July 2013
Well depending on the state of our hangovers and how much sleep we get may alter our plans some what, but as it stands it looks like this. We take our bikes and head off for a morning ride to Spaandam, the village where the little boy put his finger in a dyke to stop the village flooding. It's not too far so a gentle ride stopping for some breakfast and a joint when we get back to Haarlem, might even try and get the window seat in Willie Wortles overlooking the windmill and sample some of that bubblegum hashish. We have to return our bikes to the hotel at check out time so that only gives us the morning to explore.

We intend to make a trip out to Zandvoort, especially if the forecast stays like this, sun sun sun. Again the bus route, this time 80, runs directly past the hotel. Once there it will be a case of chilling on the beach with a few joints and a trip to Yanks, personally I think the pictures I have seen make this look like one of the coolest coffeshops, I hope it lives up to my expectations. Also having the bar next door caters for all our parties tastes. Once we have had enough of sun, spliffs and beer (if this is possible) then its the short train ride into the city of dreams aka Amsterdam.

We are back in our usual hotel for the next two nights the Quentin Arrive on Haarlemerstraat, cheap and cheerful but a great location for exploring. After getting freshened up its our usual pilgrimage to the Kashmir Lounge, calling in at the Grey Area to blow half my wage packet on the way!! We will be in the lounge from about 19:30 for a couple of hours if anyone fancies the trip out then feel free to join us for beer, biffs and banter.

Then it's on to tram 17 back to central where after a quick call at voyagers it's into the RLD to find a few more bars and maybe some other activities for those amongst us that fancy it ;-) before crashing out. I love Amsterdam on a Saturday night, so I guess it will be a late one for me!
