Amsterdam is never dead, just those that walk the streets sometimes.

I can see both sides, alone and with a friend. Some of my best times have been with others going with me, but so have some of the worst times when I've had others going with me. Not really ever had a bad time going on my own to memory and had some great times.

But sorting accommodation out at a reasonable price is a bit of a pain as a solo traveler, apart from that I'm happy going by myself but can understand the op not wanting to. It's like those who just don't like going there local pub on there own I guess.
