Moving to Amsterdam for a year, advice please !

Post by Padge247 »

Ok so I am moving to Amsterdam for a year at the end of August and wanted some recommendations for some coffee shops to frequent.

I will be living just on the east side of Frankendael Park and wanted recommendations for local good value smoke, as well as the places to splash out on higher grade.

A second question I had is about tobacco and smoking substitutes. I know that technically tobacco shouldn't be smoked in coffee shops, but from previous visits I also know I have never seen this even remotely enforced. However I personally don't smoke cigarettes and would prefer to smoke an alternative. I was quite happy with the stuff they had in jars in Bulldog, but would like peoples advice on what and where to buy for tobacco substitute (sorry if this has been covered elsewhere). I am not a fan of smoking pure (currently) so that isn't really an option.

Finally although I am a fan of both Indica and Sativa, I would appreciate any Sativa recommendations as it is much harder to come by in the UK so I would like to get some while I can =)

Thanks in advance for any replies, really looking forward to getting there !

I intend to try and get in as many as I can, but I thought there maybe some that people thought were more worth trying than others. I am actually coming over to study, so my budget is fairly well stretched and I would like to avoid as many 'dud' shops as possible =)

Fancy asking for advice about coffeeshops on a coffeeshop forum, what a fool hey?

Anyway padge the only coffeeshop I'd never go back to was Sevilla comfy chairs, but they ripped me. Partly my own fault as even though the buds looked crap, I trusted the bud tender. She obviously likes tourists.

I do most of my buying in de pijp, which isn't that far from where you'll be -club media and de graal generally have top notch product at a slightly cheaper price than the centrum. Voyagers and Utopia in the centrum have quality smokes, bluebird and tweede kamer are good for hash.
Have a good year, I know I would

De Pijp is where I had been looking mainly, I will make sure to check out your recommendations ! Around that area others I was thinking of trying were Katsu, Carmona, Yo-Yo and Coffeeshop D & L.

Voyagers sounds really interesting and it is nice that they have a presence on this board =) The Tuesday Special sounds like a really good way to try strains I wouldn't normally try at reasonable prices (especially for Centrum!). I shall do some reading up on Utopia =)

Katsu's good never regretted a purchase from there, I just prefer club media and de graal for sitting. Yo Yo's ok I guess, never been to Carmona, D & L ok as is Ocean.
Utopia does a cracking pot of tea
