Quest for Amsterdam's Diamonds Pt9 Aug13 Smoke Report

I was trying to get an apartment for a week over the summer but those plans fell through – so me and my mate did a last minute 2 night trip, he Flew in from Liverpool and Me from London. This trip went so fast I didn’t mange to document all the smokes – I was too busy enjoying them.

Day 1
Meet at Schiphol and jumped on a train.

Utopia
Sun was roasting as we tried to sit outside but had to go back inside. :?
1g Champagne Haze E14 – not a good batch :( - oh well I guess the consistency had to end sometime.
Image
Image
1g Citral E12 – made up for the lacklustre champagne – coasted in crystals – heavy hashy taste and stone.
Image
Image
Image
0.5g GSC ice E20 – strong. On the first night it was too hot to sleep, the windows had to be open but there was lots of traffic, my mate was snoring his head off – this knocked me for six.

Graff

Abba – leave bags

Albert Heijn – ,for sandwich material, drinks and fruit

Vondel Park – found a nice spot, ate a bit of munch – rolled a little GSC ice with some Citral and chilled (it was boiling)
Image

De Graal – best shop as usual – it was really hot outside but it was cool in here.
2.9g Super Cream – got a bit of a discount (0.2g) as I got the last bit and the tender didn’t have to time to take all the small bits of plastic off, I didn’t mind – only took me 10mins. Great buzz up high – smooth as velvet and tasty as hell! I'm in heaven! It was molten in the summer temps, almost impossible to handle.

1g High Rise E13 – I still don’t think this is amnesia! Lovely subtle lemon taste (it was more pronounced before) – floaty high.
Image
Image
Image
2g NYCD E13/g – no pic – my mates favorite – fresh diesel flavors.
0.5g Nepal Cream E10 – no pic, gave my mate the worst whitey in years – said he was sat pale in the bathroom sweating for half an hour! (I was asleep when he smoked this)

Loetje – buttertastic!
Image

Club Media – the lady serving wasn’t happy. The mood in here isn’t what it was before. LA Diesel smelt like wet grass.
1g POG &1g Hindu Kush – My mates favourites from last year – both gone up in price – they were nice but nothing super. One of them in in this pic:
Image
0.5g Motivation – only thing that had any smell – tender was annoyed at having to pick out the tiny buds from the majority of twigs. Ok smoke.
Image

Back to the hotel for lots of smokes and watched Chocolate – A Thai martial arts film about a girl with special needs! Forgot how bad some of the story is – but its just a means to showcase the insane action!

After not falling asleep due to noise and heat a GSC iceo & super cream combo put my lights out nicely.

the HR is nice but the last batch was very sticky and quite harsh on the throat, several groups of people round the shop smoking it(including me) were all coughing up a lung with every toke, I have had much better experiences with it in the past though.

i don't buy amnesia in any shops these days, from what i can tell a lot of amnesia going around is not the original but hybrids crossed further with fast flowering indica in order to make it a more commercially viable crop.
I know this because i have an old dutch friend who grows some of this, instead of being the 14 week haze amnesia haze should be, his crop finishes in a surprisingly short 9 weeks, the clones are sourced locally.

a bit like "amnesia lemon" from barney's fram seeds, it's amnesia haze crossed with skunk#1 to decrease the flowering time of the haze and to introduce a lemony taste from the skunk, i have grown this strain in the past.

Thanks for the insight. Whatever the high rise haze is I had some amazing batches of it last year and its been pretty good this year too! I do agree that it (and the nycd which seems to be done by the same grower) can be slightly too moist.

Can hardly wait to get back to de Graal now. I love the place and would go there even if the products were no better than average, but I can just taste that pipe filled with NYCD, with a Nepal top.

I'm just going by what the owner/budtender replied with when I questioned him about the genetics after the discussions on here and what he said was "it's Amnesia but better , grown by the same guy who does our NYCD"

Cracking write up and pics as always

Enjoying the report. Nice pics as always. Did the GSC ice come from Utopia?

I'll quite often try the Amnesia when I visit a new shop. IMHO it is a barometer of how good the weed is going to be at that particular shop. Most shops carry the strain. There is sometimes some VERY good Amnesia circulating around Amsterdam. It is usually good sex weed as well.

I went to a locals place called 'Moonlight' in Zaandam during 4/20 week. Quite frankly I cannot remember ever having better Amnesia. When Voyagers had the 'Wild amnesia' I thought that was pretty good as well although quite different from the Moonlight version.
I'm tempted to put up a 'best Amnesia' thread as I really think the strain has quite an amazing body high when done right.

I suppose I meant that it was never a typical amnesia haze :D

It did take a while to roll one :D I didn't get to taste the Nepal Cream  my mate (who isnt a big hash smoker)but can handle his weed smoked it to help him sleep during the night and didn't help him at all – said he was sat pale as a ghost in the bathroom sweating for half an hour!

Day 2 coming soon.... lots of graffiti pics uploading......
