November 20-30- Need Help

Me and the wife are finally making the trip since she can now fly more than 5 hours. This has been my dream for over 16 years (Jamaica 2nd home b/c of 3 hour flight...go to the Caribbean 2 times a year). The Cup is going on but that's not the reason we are heading out (perfect for work), but what timing i guess for a lifelong toker (got to at least swing by for a day even if a bust).

What's the toke and talk I keep hearing about? I can't wait to meet some folks!

We plan on plenty of day trips. So far we are thinking Brussels and Dusseldorf out of the country and of course the local stuff... but suggest away.

We are staying in The Nine Streets area and need a good local coffee shop too.

I'm looking for some good techno (House/Tech House DJ myself) club to enjoy while having fun. Studio 80???

Best romantic spot to eat? $$$ is not an issue.

Welcome to ACD

A good local coffee shop for the nine streets would be La Tertulia. Nice place.

Brussels is not ideal for a day trip but Gent and Antwerp are. If you book on the Thalys site up to 90 days in advance you get some of the best fares. http://www.thalys.com Dusseldorf is one of my favorite cities in Western Germany but Cologne is not that much farther. Again book in advance on the DB site for best fares. http://www.bahn.de
As for a good coffeeshop, don't get so caught up with it being close to where you are staying. If you take some time to read the coffeeshop reviews section no doubt you will find several to check out. Close by and very quite is Paradox.
As for House/ Techno music, Studio 80 can be hit or miss. Be aware that they sometimes online sale tickets in advance so book accordingly. There is also Wicked Jazz Sounds on Sunday's at the Sugar Factory and Tuesday nights at Barkode. I would suggest you check out the follwoing site the week before you leave home. http://www.djguide.nl/?language=en
For food try Castell, Moeders, VandeMarkt, or Long Pura. There is also the following site but its all in Dutch so use Google Translate. http://www.iens.nl/

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the November Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop (your favorite)
and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to show up, if they do you'll have a
T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... e&u=110196

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

thanks everyone.

We still might do Brussels, as we have friends (Atlanta, GA) of friends (Brussels) we would like to meet. I found out today that football season will be going on (didn't know you guys played US football), they might be busy on the weekends, and have to work during the week. Staying overnight isn't an issue if we need to though.

Regarding coffee shops. My plan is to hit them ALL. Isn't going to happen, but i'll sure as hell try. Anyone that wants to meet up and do a shop tour I'm game.

Are you sure it is US football? Remember, the rest of the world calls football what we call soccer!

Have a great trip!

yes. US football but Euro style (not sure what that means). I thought soccer too, but they sent pics in the pads/helmets/in the huddle. I think he's the quarterback.

Thanks again everyone. Looking forward to the trip.

American football is reasonably popular in the Netherlands. Isn't there still a pro European league as well?
