Hi everyone!

My names Adam i am 28 and planning my first trip to Amsterdam on the 17th Sept to the 20th Sept. I will be traveling solo and was looking for some advice.

I have never been abroad before so am new to everything except flying took the flight from Birmingham to Aberdeen a few times!

The first problem i am having is finding a hotel i am looking for somewhere smoker friendly so i can end the day with a joint in my room :) I have not got a set budget but any where around 80 a night would be good, I have looked in to the hemp hotel and the old nickel do you guy have any experience with these 2 hotels?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and if any one has any other tips i should know about traveling to Amsterdam that would be great to :)

Happy smoking where ever you are :)

If you don't mind not being in the centre (but in areas with very good coffeeshops) I'd recommend Abba on Overtoom or Atlantis on Ceintuurbaan. Smoke-friendly, but clean and not chaotic.

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the September Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop (your favorite)
and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to show up, if they do you'll have a
T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... e&u=110234

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

First timers get my S G Collins recommendation
I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.

How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.

Why not look for lodging at a coffeeshop. Voyagers, Greenhouse Effect, and Rookies all have rooms.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

So im sure i read somewhere that hemp hotel was closing?? not been to old nikel but its sister hotel old quarter is a smokers dream (well has been for me). the prices for those have gone up a bit recently
im going to hotel nadia in november have options of rooms with balcony, but ill always smoke in hotel most dont seem to mind too much if you smoke next to an open window.. heres the hotels that allow smoking thread : https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewt ... otels+list
for a first trip bring some maps (you will get lost) and watch out for the bikes when high, i suppose 5 gram pure joints from the go wont be good you will get really high, make plans of coffeeshops museums attractions gigs you want to do see(after the first joint all plans go out the window but its still worth it) beware alot of the attraction really suck so have a read about on here travelogues are a good read. its worth setting up a toke & talk or going to one, its even better when your going solo.
hope you have a really good first trip..

I second that piece of advice!

... though I have others:
BurgerBar- 200g Wagyu with bacon and cheddar (get fries, not onion rings- rings are way overpriced and underportioned!)!!
Ask the price before you buy in bakery's... those munchie attacks can get expensive in a hurry if you're not careful!
Get a decent map!
Wear comfortable walking shoes!
Look both ways before crossing...TWICE!

I would check out Air BnB. You can probably get a studio apartment for less than 80. https://www.airbnb.com/

Last time I stayed at the Doria Hotel (about year and a half ago)on Damstraat, smoking weed wasn't a problem. It's a cheap hotel (about e50 a night) with tiny single rooms but it's clean, breakfast is basic but plentiful, located very close to Dam Square and it has a lift :)

Tips wise...
Make sure you have picture id on you, it's a legal requirement and you may be refused entry to coffeeshops (although being an old git I've rarely been asked)

I stayed in Old Nickel with 2 mates, we asked if we could smoke and the barman said as long as he can't smell it its fine so we just cranked the window! cost us 120 euros for 5 nights there, just a bed really, we were so high and fell asleep instantly, it's not too shabby.
