Should be fun boss

Got a few friends in town over that period although they are staying at the Easyhotel up in De Pijp. I stayed there last year and swore never again. They do not get in until noon on Friday so Wed night and Thurs i will be doing the usual walking about the Dam with a sense of wonderment.

I only decided i was going on Monday of this week, so everything suitable in the town was scary money and this was a damn good option.

Balcony, elevator, smoker friendly and sleeps 4.

Does not look to far from Birdy's

Happy days

Haarlem is cool, close to Amsterdam but with lively bars and restraunts especialy in the Grote Markt where you can sit and watch the world go by. If you like traditional Dutch beer try the Jopen Kerk, great beer, excellent service and information on the beers. There are numorus coffeshops but Birdies is easily the best of the ones I have frequented; your right, it's about two minutes walk from the station.

I am also staying a couple of nights in Haarlem Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September so maybe see you around.

Spaldwick, sounds good boss. Always hear good things about Haarlem but never got around to it.

Probably need to print the map out, only downside is the apartment has no internet. I can use the data roaming on my phone if need be and make my own wifi spot

You have been posted on the September Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop (your favorite)
and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to show up, if they do you'll have a
T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... le&u=78210

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

I often stay in Haarlem. I stay in the south end near the new Bavo.
Rent a bike and you can cover all the way to Zandvoort and back going west.
Going south is Leiden. ( Shops don't open until mid afternoon )

A Haarlem coffeeshop map.

I know of at least one more that isn't on the map.

I spent two days in Haarlem in 2011 mainly for the hell of it. I liked it, though I think I'd struggle to spend more than a couple of days there. You might want to go on to Zandvoort (or Beverwijk to be a daring individualist) for a day. I feel it's like Amsterdam would be without the trams and the tourists.

It's got at least three museums in the worth-seeing-if-you've-got-a-museumkaart-but-otherwise-a-tad-overpriced category. Teylers Museum is the oldest in NL, and basically the collections of a wealthy eccentric. There's the Dolhuis (madhouse) about the history of mental illness and how it was treated, with interactive exhibits if you can handle a bit of Dutch. Haven't been to the Frans Hals Museum yet, but it's an anniversary year, so they're doing special things. Which also probably means a supplement of a couple of euro even if you have a museumkaart, a cute Haarlem custom, apparently. There are a number of almshouses you can visit as well.

Birdy had a triumphant sign saying that jelly was back when I popped in last week, so that was welcome news. Tried their knetter as well, which had got good reviews, but don't see what's so special about it, though there's nothing wrong with it. High Times is the other shop in Haarlem that I like, but you can walk round all of them in a few hours and decide for yourself.

Look forward to reading your report, as you'll undoubtedly discover things I've managed to miss.

If you like beer have a look at this place http://www.jopen.nl/. Fab conversion of a church into a microbrewery. On my 'must visit again' list. They have great beer below 5%abv - which imo can be difficult to find in Amsterdam. Google 'Ron Pattinson' for a great guide to pubs in Haarlem & Dam. Roll on November :D

Do you mind if i ask what was wrong with easyhotel? it's a place i've thought about booking in the past but never took the plunge.

I've stayed in Haarlem briefly. Near the station also. Found WW Sativa about as charming and welcoming as a railway station waiting area. There is an easy pinball game in there as well. Convenient place to score though.

WW Indica was a lot nicer and more cosy and friendly. I got totally lost on the way back from WW indica and ended up asking various different people for directions on the street. It is something I'd never do in Amsterdam. The people are friendly here for the most part.

Print a map out or have GPS or something would be my advice. There are some canals that are so pretty they put Amsterdam to shame btw.
How much did you produce?

They general sealed off sterility of the place. Anything over the basic room with air content (for breathing purposes only) is chargeable, want a towel in your room 2 E, like some TV then that is 15 more. So on and so forth.

The interior rooms feel like Wentworth prison from Prisoner Cell Block H, pretty sure Vinegar Tits is on reception and old Lizzie does the rooms.

Cheers Treetop. Been hammering Google Earth to get a feel for the area. Saved the shops in Haarlem in Google as well for future reference as i will have my tablet thing with me most of the time when out and about.
