The trick is not to go waving them around at customs singing ' I used these to weigh drugs in Amsterdam.'

Seriously though you do know that pocket scales are more commonly used for weighing silver, gold and other legal products right?

A customs officer is more likely to just check they work or open up the battery compartment to make sure there is nothing in them. Take a swab perhaps.

Even in the good old US of A where some states have pretty stringent paraphenelia laws scales are not prohibited AFAIK.

.....except when there is a big lump of hash stuck to them. That might take a little explaining.

as foolish as it sounds I hadn't actually given any thought at all to the many legitimate uses for pocket scales.

I know a extremly affordable digital touchscreen Pocket Scale which is just awesome.
Its accurate 0.01 Scale and when there is a light wind for example the scale keeps changing when the wind blows against it.

I had digital Pocket Scales who not even noticed when you put a 0,2 Gramm piece onto it,then you had to press your finger onto it and when you released finger and the scale went down again it stopped at new value. So its a good sign that a Scale notice when you gently blow air against it with your mouth when other not even notice 0,2g pieces :)

The Scale im talking about cost 11 Euros (!!) and comes from the german Company G&G
It can weigh up to 100 Gramms in 0.01 Steps.
You can get them at Amazon. They come with calibration weight and a little bag.

I know its unbelieveable that a 11 Euro Scale can be any good, but im using it for nearly a year know (11 Month)and i tried to test it with known weights (for example the weight of coin money) and it always showed the correct result. Its super sensitive, when you put 1 Gramm Weed on it,and then you add a single piece of leave of 0.01 Gramms weight the Scale notice it and shows it.
Also you can recalibrate the Scale with the Calibration Weight included, and the touch screen works nice too.You wont regret buying it i promise you ;)

You also can see it in the Customer Reviews (175) and the 4.5 of 5 Stars it recieved.

I'm sure there are, but do you really want to come off a flight from Amsterdam and answer some prying questions from a customs officer about what precisely you were doing with them on holiday? If you do, I suggest you memorise your story about dealing in precious metals or whatever in advance.

Just tell them the truth? You brought them with you as you are a paranoid android and think everyone is skimming something off the top followed by "did you know officer that 25g packet of Doritos only contains 24.75g of crisps"
They must find it difficult, those who have taken authority as truth, rather than truth as authority
