Getting from seedling to veg

Any tips? My mate is so shit at this stage she generally kills about a 1/3 of all plants during this stage. Also it seems to 2x as long for her to get them into veg as

Promised I'd pass on some tips from the experts as she is way out in the back woods and pretty internet shy.

Anyone know anyone who grows from seed and has a particularly good method/process to get the plants into veg? She is growing in coco coir btw.
