Hello all,

First travelogue posted and I figured that I had better get it on quickly beofre I forget some of the detail! I am still very chilled out as I write this so sorry if it reads a bit spacey! I'll try and get the first day done just now...

Day 1

So, 7am in Scotland and me and my mate are up and heading to the airport. This trip was a very last minute raid that was arranged last week. We've been together 3 times before this, so we knew what was in store for us! There was plenty of anticipation and delight that we'd secured a flight that meant we'd be in Centraal at 1.30pm instead of the usual 10.30pm, result!

Flight and train went by as quickly as ever and we found ourselves strolling out into a reasonably warm Amsterdam. First things first, it was straight to Voyagers. I was really looking forward to getting my hands on some of the Kosher Kush x Sykwalker that I'd heard a bit about. There it was at the top of the menu. I took my time taking in the rest of the menu and decided on Some Sour Straberry Diesel and some of their Super Oganic Bio Lemon Haze (or summat like that!).

Just as I was about to order the BT took the menu that I had just being perusing and told me that the menu had changed and there was no more KKxSW left. Denied!
Fortunately it was being replaced by straight Kosher Kush which tempered my disappointment slightly. I picked up some of that along with the SSD and LH and sttled down for the first toke of the trip. I like Voyagers. Their gear can't be faulted, there's a free grinder for you when you buy some weed, a really chilled out vibe and some good tunes. Anyway, back to that first joint...after sniffing the bags a few more time I decided on the Super Lemon Haze first. After much coughing I was up and running. It always takes me the first spliff or two to get used to smoking pure again, rolling half gram cones certainly did give me a bit of a tickle! The Lemon Haze was superb, fantastically heady high, my senses felt like they were on steroids. It comes highly recommended, one of the top three of the trip. It is also possibly the only strain that I will be able to give a completely clear opinion of, the others were consumed whilst highly baked! The buds were in fantastic condition, as they all were from Voyagers. My companion had some Amnesia, which was good but I don't think hit the heights of the other strains that I picked up. I'm not really going to talk about what he was smoking as I have a feeling he might be posting about that on here himself!

First toke done, it was straight to the hostel. I had booked the Flying Pig Downtown, much out of convenience and price than anything else. The last time I had been there was 6 years ago and it has the same easy going party vibe now that had made it a good choice back then. We found a spot in their large and comfortable smoking room and blazed up a big SSD cone. This was some of the most unbelievably tasty weed that we had during this trip, and remains at the top of my travel companions list for the whole trip. Sour tasting, strong diesel high and perfectly cured, faultless! It had me sitting in my chair for a good half an hour just taking in what was going on around us. After another few we took a walk along to Barneys.

There wasn't really too much on the menu that was shouting out to me at Barney's this time. It was pretty busy so just took a fly and buy of a g of Liberty Haze and wandered round to The Doors. The Doors is always a good spot for sitting outside and watching Amsterdam go by right in front of you. I threw half of my g of LH into a j and see what it's all about. Maybe it was becuase I was expecting great things from the smell, feel and chyrstal content but it didn't quite fulfil my expectations. Still a great smoke but only 8/10.

Next stop was Homegrown Fantasy, always an old favourite from my first trip in 2001. My friend bought somthing tasty and we sat for a while and enjoyed the atmosphere. HGF is definately my favourite place to chill during the day.

That's all I've got time for at the moment, any comments or question's appreciated.

Next installment coming soon...

Dude, you are so right!

Cannot recommend Voyagers enough! The quality of buds has got consistently got better over the 6 or so years that I have been going there! No matter what strain, every nugget has been properly looked after, I would not hesitate to recommend anything on the menu!

They have just put some Kandy Kush on the menu that I didn't have a chance to pick up. I wanted to but just couldn't pass up on any of the others that I had already tried. Once you've tried Kosher, you can't settle for anything else!

The difficulty is that the menu seems to change so often. I went in at 1.30pm on Monday and by luchtime on Wedsday they were just about to change it when I went in for the lastime for this trip. 48 hrs is not a long time!

Other than Voyagers, the only place that matched Voyagers was the Grey Area, but more on that later...

Good report, Nice chilled first day...
I'm with you on the LH, it seems not to be as strong as when it first came on to the scene.
But still a beautiful looking bit of bud...

Apologies for the delay in the next instalment, back to work and real life seems to have got in the way. It’s only been ten days and it feels like a month!

So we were in HGF and I was feeling incredibly baked, which is probably why I can agree with my travel buddy the chronological orders of the events that are about to unfold! I’m going with my version of events, which are getting less lucid by the day!

We moseyed back towards the hostel and jumped into Abraxas. Well, I say jumped but it probably looked more like we stumbled into place and I was most relieved to spot a table downstairs that spared me the ordeal of negotiating those stairs whilst trying to carry a piping hot beverage and a head completely pickled by THC! Again my companion chose something very tasty (although not overwhelmingly strong) from the menu and went to the bar. I broke out the as yet untouched buds of Kosher Kush. This had been a firm favourite on my last trip in 2011. As the KK had just come on the menu when I picked it up in Voyagers, the kindly bud tender was able to provide me with two of the finest examples of expertly grown and cured buds that I saw the whole trip. Dripping with crystals and smelling devine! A good looking half g cone in hand, I set about it with a passion that had me in a fit of coughs on the first hit. A few smaller tokes later and I had remembered what was so good the last time and I had forgotten pretty much everything else!

After much nonsensical banter and further doobs, food was the next item on the agenda. Although I wasn’t quite ready to be in relatively sober company we took the scenic route to Burger Bar just down from our hostel. Luckily it was quite quiet and I must recommend it for perfect stoner munchies. The burgers are great and the service is quick, which neatly allowed us to get back on the streets and go in search of the next plume of smoke.

We ventured down and across Dam Square to get our first view of The original Greenhouse. I have incredibly fond memories of this place spanning back to my first trip. Back in May 2002 it sorted me out with some White Widow Niederpolm which was (with firm rose tinted specs on) the finest bit of smoke I have ever had. I have spent many an hour smoking some of finest buds of various different trips in this pace and was hoping that this one would be no different. Which makes what I am just about to say even more difficult. I swaggered up to the bud tender checking out the menu for something to catch my eye and decided to go for two of the staples, real old favourites – Jack Herer and a bit of Bubblegum. A g of each. You can’t go wrong, can you? Well unfortunately you can. The JH was dry and crispy and the BG was in no where close to the previous deals I have got from The Greenhouse and didn’t appear to have been cured properly. Maybe it was my fault for placing an old favourite in high esteem and not asking to inspect the buds before placing my order, but nonetheless it was a bit disappointing.

As it was the bar area was full so we took ourselves back in the direction of the hostel for the last couple of hours toking in The Blues Brothers, opposite the hostel. This is a special place in Amsterdam for my mate as this was the first coffeeshop that he visited on his first trip. Suitably comfortable sat at the back of the shop with a vanilla milkshake in front of me, I sparked a fatty of the JH that I had just purchased. Now, don’t get me wrong – if I was presented with those dry, crystally buds at home, I’d be ok with it. I’ve smoked much worse! But there wasn’t the pungency about them that I was looking for. The taste was there and it certainly got me high but it wasn’t stand out 5/10. Next was the BG which at least smelt good, but didn’t burn well 6/10. Chilled at BB until closing and then it was the long walk to the hostel!

Barely able to converse, it was time for bed. The grand plans of a quick spliff went out the window when we realised that we would have to stand as the smoking area was packed as it had more than halved in size due to the al fresco portion being shut after 11. Standing for 10 minutes was a challenge too far for us in the condition that we were in. That, and we recognised that our dorm was on the top floor on the opposite side of the building and getting there was going to be a challenge in itself. What felt like 10 mins later, I was a Bounty down (vending machines are a stoners nemesis – indecision was rife!) and I was struggling with my card in the lock of the door. Within 5 mins of getting into the empty room, the earplugs were in and I was sound asleep. Success!

To be continued…

I remember that stuff. It just fluffed up between your fingers.

Good report.
