Are coffeeshops in Roermond open to tourist?

Post by cjcar »

I plan on spending sometime in different parts of NL and was wondering if anyone can tell me if shops in Weert, Roermond & Venlo are open to travelers?

If not, I'll do as I did last year and stock up in Ams....

Sorry if this has been addressed somewhere else....

Thanks!

http://www.coffeeshopnieuws.nl/index.ph ... nicipality <-- This will tell you where you can and where you can't. The can't is mostly the three southern provinces of Zeeland, Brabant, and Limburg.

Enjoy

The Weedpass is not longer Active.
You know,it was planned to make a test run in the 3 border provinces, and on succes in whole netherlands after a Year.It started May 2012.But since no one could consider it a success....it was canceled and the Mayor was allowed to handle it like they want.
Some Evil Mayors like the one from Maastricht dont allow foreigners to buy,in Maastricht you need a special Paper from Townhall (mayors own weedpass) to be able to buy in the citys world famous coffeshops like the Missisipi :(
But in the little citys near Maastricht,Kerkrade for example,Foreigners are Welcome in the Coffeshop.

So it realy is different from town to town.

I did some research on a German Site (no Wietpass) and i found that Venlo could be closed,at least its not sure there. But in Roermond should be no problem for you to buy.I could find no Info about the other Town you mentioned.
But Venloo is not soo far away from Kerkrade, when you want to be sure 100% to get something,or when you dont get in the other Towns, drive to Kerkrade and type Hamolenweg 15 in your Nav (without Nav its tricky to find, best write down way from google maps) and drive to Down Under Coffeshop. Its a shop with mostly Dutch People and they have good Hash and Weed (try the Passion or Amnesia Haze and the Hija Hash ;) ) and there you can buy 100% i drive to this shop all few days

Thank you both for the info and research...

FBN - the map was very helpful, and please feel free to post my dates: Oct 23 -28

Weedus - a big THANK YOU for that research, you saved me so much time and possible dryness while I'm out and about in the NL countryside... I really want to try coffeeshop Skunk in Roermond this time, last year it was closed when I was there....

Just wondered if there might have been a change of heart in these places , that is all. Not ais if they are as accessible as say the nearer places to Belgium were.

I had some family archive research work in Vlissingen and Middleburg bout 3 years ago - the Goes coffee shop was nice and friendly (just bought for hotel consumption) , the Aarden in Vlissingen was (to say the least) - crap , unwelcoming and rude.

I need to go again and do some further study - I will probably stock up in Rotterdam on the way - but even with unwelcome CS's staff , nice to buy and smoke in your ancestor's home town !!.

However, if the weed pass remit changes ....

You may be right here but I'm still not going to let that stop me from renting a car and going on an adventure....

I was in Roermond the other day and stopped in Coffeeshop Skunk. It was closed the last time I was here so I was happy to get get in this time. A sterile place, I think because being so close to the border it is set up more like a buy & fly.....

Purchased 1g of Pepsi for 10.5€

It was OK, nothing too special, but mixed with the left over JellyHash.... It did the trick....
