I would suggest a much shorter day trip to Haarlem instead of Brussels.
7,60 euro return ticket, 15 minutes each way.

Haarlem coffeeshop map - http://thekaart.nl/en-netherlands-haarl ... 179_0.html

Some Haarlem menus - http://coffeeshopmenus.org/0-Haarlem-/Haarlem.htm

IMHO, top three shops in Haarlem. Birdy, WW Indica, and Empire.

A late start would do. Most shops don't open until 10 or 11 am. It is an easy bike ride to the beach at Zandvoort. Or hook up with USBONGLORD & Luvtik for their nailhits on the beach adventure.

Enjoy

Definitely Haarlem! It's a quaint, quieter than Amsterdam, more laid back, charming town/village.

When you walk out the front door of the train station turn left, and, within a few steps you will find a bike rental place. And Haarlem is a perfect town for cycling. Very fun, lovely and exhilarating.

A lady deadhead from Notnomore. Perfect :P :D 8) nice screen name, nice tune too.

Right about a day trip to Brussels, 2 long train rides, very flat landscape so pretty boring mostly. I love train rides where the countryside is interesting but Hollands not all that, believe me I know. From a bicycle though now thats a different story. If visiting Brussels (or Paris) is important then you have to do a few days otherwise you're just ticking them off. And wasting good toking time  . :D
What a long strange trip it is.

The best thing about Brussels is the train station. Long train ride too unless you get the fast one.
How much did you produce?
