Correct me if I'm wrong but surely they'll only get fined or lose their licence if you are underage, not if you are old enough but not carrying ID. I still think it's ridiculous that some coffeeshops ask people who are patently 'of age' to provide ID.

Bars in Amsterdam dont feel the need to do it, so I just cant fathom why coffeeshops need to.

youre required by dutch law to carry a legal form of id if youre not a citizen afaik

your right it's only if your underage they get fined, but if you look young enough to get asked for id why would you be offended?

Also its still the law that they id everyone regardless if they look 15 or 50

Cannabis expert most definitely, prob got more knowledge in my left toe than you would know, 22 years to he exact, growing, selling, hydro shop , 50+ trips to mokum, so don't be shy feel free to ask what you need to know, drop it in a p.m or better still I don't post my trip dates but lucky you your out the same time as me, let's meet up we can talk more then about my knowledge save me slaging you off here I can do it to your face.

I am completely for the showing of I.D in all cs, and I think all should be forced to do it as the owners have a right to know who is in there shops, also as is already stated u have to carry it anyway so wtf is the problem getting it out? Nothing ,so stop your moaning.

Perhaps that's down to the difference in legal status and general prevailing attitude of authorities though? I really don't think bars and coffeeshops are in exactly the same position for such a direct comparison.

As I understand it, the CS's that are really hot about asking everyone for ID are attempting to head any potential issues re. their status off before they even occur. The anti-CS lobby in Holland seems to want to use any possible angle to attack them with, whether it be the 15% thing, proximity to schools etc, and the number of closures & potential closures only increases every year. Therefore being seen to be as blatantly beyond reproach as possible is only wise imo, and if some places have decided that means everyone in there has to have id no matter how old they look (especially as the law requires people to carry ID) then I can see the sense in it myself.
