I understand and sympathize with Gronin's point about privacy. However, if I was concerned about being tracked, I would use this forum either.

Last couple of years, I have taken to using a credit card for about half my purchases. I was glad to see this thread, as I wasn't aware of Siberie and Greenhouse taking them.

One that I didn't see listed is Hunter's. It brings me back to my trip when the bill comes and HUNTERS is listed as a line item on the bill!

I often take a credit card with me to Amsterdam in case of an emergency. Why only take cash?, what you gonna do if something unexpected happens?, an unexpected expense, run out of money or anything?. If you do use a credir card in Amsterdam why use it on an individual basis like a gram or 2 in a coffeeshop, say a €20 buy several times per trip?. Would it not be easier and safer to simply draw €100 or whatever out of an ATM?.
