butane, not CO2... Co2 i heard was ok.... i like bubble hash... way cleaner and safer.

I'm not saying the oil itself is bad.

The problem lies in the production of the hash oil.

You have to trust your source, and their ability to purge properly.

Occasionally you’ll get a batch that was mishandled and you’ll get sizzling butane in your dabs.

That’s dangerous chemicals in your lungs and can seriously fuck up your immune system.

Butane and other chemicals are no joke — they’ll harm your body permanently.

I agree that hash containing any form of impurities is bad, some even lethal, which I hope is agreed upon universally.
The rest of the conversation seems to be about splitting hairs, misuse of facts, and antagonizing/baiting each other... ...
When obtaining BHO, one definitely should know and trust the source. Anything else is paramount to playing Russian Roulette, and for what, overpriced product?
When posting links, post something like white papers on the hazards of ingesting butane, and perhaps other chemicals that are used in the production of hash. This goes a LONG way towards educating the masses, instead of reading through stoner drivel from another forum. Admittedly the member that goes by "Smoker" did post a couple of informative links. Goes to what I'm saying, post a link to a more credible source than other stoners.

Maybe back to the topic? I have an actual questions about bho..

Doesn't the extraction affect flavor and the high? I mean IF extracting removes or destroys terpenes in the plant matter?

What I think happens, is butane acts as a solvent and removes most, if not all fat-soluble substances such as thc. So, does it extract all the other good stuff (cbd, cbn, thcv, cbg...etc etc) too or does it destroy some by freezing or even leave it behind without being able to extract it into the end product?

I have yet never tried dabbing as is and don't know how it "hits", but have had some bho mixed into bowl and flavor-wise it was pretty generic strong pine cone flavor, also the high was more intense but not that long lasting.

As one more question, is there as much differences between different kinds of oils or waxes as there are differences between buds? Not the percentage of thc but the flavors, different effects and highs..

Depends on the heat,over 120 f seems to reduce the noticeable turpines,a long drawn out purge with low heat seems to keep some of the flavor ,right now I have something we call cheese salad spoon,made from cheisel,cheese,sogouda and blue cheese..hits ya for a sec when ya open the jar,other wise nothing till ya light her,then ya know it's cheese ...all about yer style of purging I'm pretty sure there's gonna be some in Amsterdam in 2 weeks...just a hunch

Daymm, no cheese salad for me as I might be back in a'dam at January. Thanks for the reply and shedding light upon the mysterious art of oil.

How swim has done extracting is simple - butane through tube and then letting the butane evaporate in a pyrex dish, which has been in a hot water bath, changing the water as the bubbling has settled down.. So in that the 120F (or 50C) was not exceeded.

Then, the matter of purging, as in a vacume.. that swim hasn't done at all, and what I've gathered - is quite a mistake, since without proper purge there is some butane still left in the oil..

Does vacume purge really make the end product superior to non-vacume purged? or is it just a gimmick?
