Hey fella. Closest to brussels? If so you could try Gorinchem. I found the Havenzicht was a friendly place to stop for a break when I drive over to the Netherlands.

For the extra 40 - 45 minutes on the train I would go to Amsterdam. Print off the Amsterdam coffeeshop map and go explore for yourself. Voyagers is close to centraal station and Utopia is a short walk away. They are my favourite shops but there are plenty of others good shops.
