jBomb - sorry we never hooked up. It's different when you have two other people with wants and needs :-)
I will refrain from commenting too much on smoke quality, unless there is something specific I feel needs mentioning.
I found a gem of a spot in Haarlem which I had been to before but did not purchase. I will cover it later, but for now suffice it to say they have beautiful, frosty buds at very reasonable prices. Their "everyday" for E6.50 is frosty, well manicured and well cured and 3g deals are E16.50. I only wish I found it sooner.
Anyway, here goes......
**************
We arrived at Hotel Uptown/Rookies around 11:30 AM on 29 Nov. We were able to check in, so after a quick freshen-up we found ourselves downstairs at Rookies perusing the menu for starters.
Purchase: Rookies - White Widow 1g
Rookies - Hindu Kush 1g
Then a quick trip over to Katsu where an insufferable little wanker kept making fun of the stupid Americans rolling pure joints that were not Dutch cones. I gave him a quick rebuff and we left immediately. I don't need that shit.
Purchase: Katsu - Orange Bud 1g
.....which turned out to be nothing special. That was the first time I got anything from Katsu which wasn't top shelf. Hmmmm. This turned out to be an omen. And they didn't have the Black Domina. When I asked about it, the budtender looked at me like I had three heads. Whatever....
Over to De Dampkring for some John Sinclair. I looked at the stock in the plastic container, asked for a gram, and when I got back to the hotel it looked different than the John Sinclair I had been shown. But it smoked well, the next day,
Purchase: De Dampkring - John Sinclair 1g
Back at Rookies, one of my travelling mates bought a gram of Polm. I have no complaints about it whatsoever, just a nice Polm that smoked well and got us very, very stoned.
Purchase
Rookies - Polm 1g
Quick bite of dinner at Wok to Walk, back to Rookies and then next door to Jazz Cafe Alto and I was out of it by 22:45.

Hi Lafe,
Thanks for the report...am interested in what you thought of Rookies as I am staying there on Monday (11th). Also have always wanted to go to Cafe Alto but never had the chance on previous visits. Is it busy (so get there early) or is it fairly easy to get a seat (have in the past been in venues out of my tree swaying like a fool so prefer to slouch in a seat).
Thanks for any additional info.

Well, Roel and John at Rookies are the best hosts and hoteliers one could imagine. Ask for a room at the rear, though, as the rooms in the front have insufferably small bathrooms and of course the noise which stops at 04:30 from the party crowd and which starts at 06:00 with the cleanup people, is nearly insufferable :-)Thanks for the report...am interested in what you thought of Rookies as I am staying there on Monday (11th). Cafe Alto opens at 21:00, band starts at 22:00, and it's a great spot. All in all, staying at Rookies on Leidseplein is a fine holiday IMO.
good luck....
