Agree with the post about the waitress..she was quite rude and sarcastic plus she missed off loads of the food we ordered (which took about 45 minutes even though the place was 30% full)

Wouldnt bother with it again

Went for a full English breakfast in town which was cheaper, bigger dishes and the waitress was dead chilled

I ate at Barney's twice. On the first occasion, the food was pretty good and everything else was great. I ordered a potato and cheese omelet, which was pretty good. The great thing was the friendly service. We asked if we could smoke our own cannabis which we had bought elsewhere (de Tweede Kamer), and they happily agreed. (They might, however, have been under the impression that we had bought the cannabis from their own very happy and friendly barman at Barney's next door. He was great.) On the second occasion, the food was great and everything else was OK. I ordered a bacon sandwich, which was fantastic. The same friendly employee was joined by another less friendly (actually pretty rude) employee who complained about everything. I had a train to catch, and when my sandwich still hadn't arrived after an hour, I inquired. She complained that I had inquired. She complained about where I wanted to sit. She complained, a lot. Some people next to me lit up a cannabis cigarette, and she complained about that too. Quite loudly and embarassingly, I thought. She could just politely have asked them to extinguish the cannabis cigarette. But she made a big scene out of it. Overall, a good place. The great barman next door is named Bart (Bart the Barneys Barman). Most of the food staff are very friendly. Good to great food. Try it out.

Barneys was my second shop in town. On our first visit we were served by a rather blunt, but not rude, irishman. We found it to be a great place to meet up with poeple throughout our trip. The irishman eventually warmed up and knew what i was going to order before i got to the counter, Im a fan of the nevilles here. Another one of the staff gave us some great tips on haarlem....even though we never made it  Ill be sure to make it back anytime im there.
What is this made of?? Babies?!

I've never had a problem at Barney's. The dealer on some occasions seemed a little standoffish but not rude to the point where it bothered me or anything. The gear has always been spot on for me.

Sure, they can be pushy about where you're sitting, it can get really crowded with the tourists pouring in, but the facts are this place opens earlier than any other shop in the centrum area (7AM), and cosistently comes through with the goods when it comes to the gear. Flying over from the states on my way to south Asia, I often find myself on the train from Schiphol to Centraal right before 7. I know where to go - Barneys ... Might be pricey, might be a little bit rude, but has never let me down on the food or the goods. Sweet Tooth, King Hassan, Willie Nelson, Caramello Cream, White Widow ... all top choices. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

I'm going to Amsterdam in 5 weeks for a few nights, this'll be my 20th visit. I've never yet been to Barney's but after spending several pleasurable hours at work planning an itinerary it was to be the very first stop on my long list of coffee shops to visit. However after finding and reading the comments on this splendid forum I'll be giving it a wide birth. I'll just go to my usual haunt for a good breakfast and then to a nearby coffee shop - much the same effect!

barney's

i don't like them. I didn't find them rude and the herb they had looked fluffy and good, it's just their prices are not worth it. The CHEAPEST weed on their menu now is White Widow, at 8.50 EUROS a gram. No deals, no price breaks. Now the stuff is good, so if you're loaded, go on by, they seem alright. But 42 EUROS averages out at about $57 for 5 grams, and in the US we can get that for barely 10 bucks more!

The GREAT thing about Amsterdam was always the cheap availability of top quality gear. If you're going to pay as much to buy in the Dam as you would at home, why would you waste the money? Yes, you're officially allowed, but to me the draw was the 25 guilder bag. I won't slag off this place at all, the shit he had was good. HOWEVER, since this shop is SOOOOOOOOOOO popular, would someone PLEEESE post the new menu?

And I apologize that I didn't have my camera on Wednesday morning.

I was offered a gram of Caramello Cream in early December for E18.

NO THANKS

We went up the street for a tasty piece of Umma Gumma at roughly half the price. Barney's has become very, very pricey.

Barney's is one of my all-time favorites. Besides dutch pancakes, it's the only place I've really enjoyed breakfast in Amsterdam. And my selections from thier other menu have never disappointed either.

There's just something about sitting at a table with strangers from all over the world, in a hobbit like den, eating my eggs & potatoes, while bowls of hash are wofting about, that appeals to me. Call me crazy!
