short strain/hash review from a week and a half ago

Post by jim tea »

Super Silver Haze (Greenhouse): Good example of the strain. Bright flavors and a rising, fairly strong up-high. (7/10).

King Hassan Extreme Hash (Greenhouse): Typical/good moroccan hash. Stony, short high. (6/10).

NYC Diesel (Abraxas): Nice diesel-ly flavors. Strong lethargic high. (8/10).

Diesel Haze (Greenhouse RLD): Flavors more on the haze side. Nice cured buds. Nice mellow high. (7/10).

White Widow (Oudekirk): Average/forgettable. No noticeable flavors. (5/10).

Nepali TB (Abraxas): Typical NTB sample. Short and stony. (6/10).

Afghani Skunk (Doors Palace): Nice floral smell and good cure. Mellow lazy high. (7/10).

Bubble Gum Hash (Doors Palace): From the price and description this is not an ice or neder hash but a morrocan -- not sure why the name. No noticeable bubble gum or other flavors. Average high. (5/10).

Greyberry (Grey Area): Nice flavor and smell, although not heavily "berry." Cured and manicured well. Nice lazy high. (7/10).

Golden Soles Hash (Grey Area): Very nice example of quality morrocan. Perfumed and heady flavor. Nicely lethargic but fairly fleeting high. (8/10).

Northern Lights (Hill Street Blues): Nicely cured with bright lemony floral scent. Light, mellow high. (7/10.

Mexican Shrooms (Conscious Dreams): Clerk offered dry shrooms in addition to wet. Chose dry. Fairly good visuals. Minimal taste and smell. Ate entire package within 8 hours. (6/10).

Mexican Shrooms (Magic Mushroom Gallery): Only wet shrooms available. Low odor/taste. Moderate to strong visuals. (7/10).

G'day Jim,

Nice report mate, seems like nothing really floated your boat though?

What was your most outstanding of that lot?

Off tomorrow just wondered did you see any cheese available, or maybe sour cream at grey area?

Thanks for the info, its always good to have news straight from the horses mouth!

Cheers,

Benno

hi benno,

Hope this reaches you in time.

Everything "floated my boat" to some degree, just some samples did so more than others. My personal preference was for the diesel strains I tried, but that probably reflects more my personal US bias for this flava than overall quality. When I go to AMS I am looking more for unique hashes for portability reasonas and as those are nearly non-existent in the US market. The GA's golden soles were a great example of top export moroccan, but I hear Pink Floyd and Kashmiri Lounge (really wanted to go but didn't) have equally good or better moroccans.

I did not see the legendary cheese strains, but, then again, I did not go looking for them (from what I hear, I would try Bluebird).

This was a fairly short trip and I mainly was a tourist hitting places I saw on my way around town. I'm sure more potent headstash could be found with a little digging. I do not recall what else was on the GA menu when I popped in as it was right before they closed and I made my selections rather quick. They did appear to have Martian Mean Green but I wasn't looking to buy that one. Also, despite the cheesiness of the chain, the Greenhouse had some amazing haze strains as usual (the SSH being a favorite of mine in AMS that did not dissapoint).

One other place I did hit that I did not originally post was Resin Coffeeshop. They were "out" of their "gold" 73 mu resin @ 30 eur ( ) so I only had the 40 eur "platinum" and 50 eur "unreal" to choose from. Based on the sheer novelty of the shop alone I bought a gram of the platinum resin. The appearance was unpressed flakes/bits of brown scooped into a baggie. While the high and taste were above average, the cost alone makes this hash a sheer novelty purchase given the cheaper and more abundant weit sold in AMS.

Overall, it did seem as if the shops had their best in stock (perhaps in preparation for NYE) and plenty of good nuggets could be found. One thing I noticed is the impending alcohol/weit rule and that it seemed everyplace that was selling both said they would be alcohol only  by april, at least on the bar's premises (with smoking still being allowed).

have a good one.

Hey mate,

Thanks again for the comprehensive info!

It's funny you mention the Kashmir Lounge as it's my favourite 'chill and enjoy life' coffeeshop. The whole layout is awesome with the cushions on the floor and lovely ornate inlaid chairs and carved tables. You must I repear must visit on your next trip. Can't remember the hashes I've had there...mainly a green machine myself....but the planken was top notch as was the edelwies.

I agree with you on the GH sentiments, although they can be a bit on the pricey side, given a chance to chat to the budtender usually ends with a top notch selection. My last visit I caught the bus from London(never again!) and got into amstel and walked up to GH Tolstraat (the lesser known but original GH) and sparked some SSH. Talk about a great welcome to amsterdam! Oh and the site of Fran Dresher looking out at me smashed from the celebrity photo's on the wall was hilarious!

Hoping the martian is at GA, would rock my boat, don't you just love the sailing ref's, can you tell I love to sail?!

Will hopefully be posting my trip report to return the favour mate. Thanks again for shareing the info!

Cheers,

Benno
