Maastricht coffeeshop closures

I heard from one of my in-the-know friends yesterday, that just prior to the Christmas holidays, the 2 smoke boats in Maastricht, namely Mississippi and Smokey Boot and one other coffeeshop, he couldnt remember the name of, were closed down; at least temporarily; he mentioned the next 2 months, at least. The reason being is that the police visited the coffeeshops and there were under 18 year olds smokin' in the 3 shops. :x IMO, it's sad to hear about ANY coffeeshop closures. Peace.

Damn

Sorry to hear about closures, if they become permanent, but they gotta card their customers and be sure of ages.

That does suck for sure, but like Twitch is saying, coffeeshops just have to start to ask proof of age on entry because the authorities seem to take strict action against rule breakers.

I'm certainly not saying bouncers on the door (like La Canna) but just ask to view some id when they come to the counter.

Even then, that may not be enough. Suppose someone underage never comes up to the counter, that could prove nasty if the place gets raided. At the minimum, they need to keep track of who comes in and card every new face as they walk in the door. Not that such a thing would be pleasant, but still necessary to avoid closure.

most coffeeshops are so small the people working there can see everyone coming in whether they come to the counter or not.

never been carded anywhere in the dam, not even at the bars..

and i agree, most shops are small enough the person working could easily see and talk with anyone in the shop.. too bad for the shops that had to close down.

oooh i cant wait..

That is a shame.

I would like to encourage those under 18 to stay out of coffeeshops. I would be rather regretful if one of my favorite shops in The 'Dam suffered the same fate.
