Day 3:
Another beautiful day in Amsterdam, cold, wet and windy….you got to love it. :D
We wake up in time for breakfast, but just barely, (8 to10) head back up to our room to change, but before heading out I fire up a good bowl of Grey Haze to jump start the morning….mmmm good. Now that I’m good to go, we walk to the Leidplein to catch the tram to Centrral Station. Two reasons for this, one I rented a studio for 4/20 along the Recht Boomstoot and I wanted to see how far the walk would be, plus to see how long it would take to walk to the Center of the Dam, since there are no trams on that side of town. And the second reason was, we wanted to see the Hortus Botanicus (Botanical Gardens). After that nice long walk, the studio is out and got a room at The Avenue Hotel on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal.
Alright, back to the day. As we were walking to the Botanical Gardens out of the corner of my eye I see a coffeeshop, its Overkant Hortus. Nice shop, clean and quite for a Friday. Didn’t buy anything as we had plenty of gear, but if I’m in the area again will defiantly stop in again.
We cross the Herengracht canal turn right and we’re there. Six euros to get in and well worth it. Sits on 1.2 hectares of land with loads of plants indoors and out. Some plants are over 300 years old. One little greenhouse had a hundreds of desert plants…more then I’ve ever seen, and I live in the desert. I’ll put up a couple of pictures below. O.K. did some touristy stuff, now it’s on to Nes to see Dave, write in “The Book”, smoke some weed and drink a few beers.
Before hitting Nes I have to show my wife some of the side streets along the RLD. Zunkii turned me on to this at the last 4/20, thanks Zunk., nothing like women up close and personally I say. Anyway the wife got a kick out of it, and it’s different then walking the streets.
We get to Nes sometime after 2:00 p.m. I introduce my wife to Dave…meet Jess, a nice energetic young lady working with Dave. Wrote in "The Book", then bought a gram of Pine Haze and Kush from Dave. The gear here is always some of the best in town and the Haze and Kush DID NOT disappoint. The Pine Haze tasted just like it's name, a piney taste with a smooth finish. The Kush had a nice hash taste, thick but easy on the throat. The coffeeshop had a steady stream of people coming and going, which kept Dave pretty, so the wife and I kicked backed for a couple of hours, relaxing, smoking some fine weed and throwing back a few Gulpener’s. Meet Oracle from Channel’s, chatted with him awhile, very nice gentleman, who lives in Amsterdam. Around 4:00, we say goodbye to Dave and Jess, and let him know I’ll see him on the 31st.
We make our way down to Uptown/Rookies to freshen up and figure out where we’re going to eat. A couple hours and a few bowls later, we’re on the tram and off to Al’s Fish and chips. What can I say about Al’s, a huge piece of greasy deep fried fish, a butt load of fries and some good dipping sauce. DAM was it GOOD!! :D Only thing missing was some Heineken on draft. Will definitely stop in again this April. With our stomachs full we walk to Pink Floyds for coffee. Didn’t buy anything this time around, as we still had plenty of weed from the Nes. Always like going to PF’s, a good place to hang and just watch people. Wandered around the city awhile, before heading back to Rookies and calling it a night.

Day 4:

We DON’T wake up in time for breakfast, because it’s our 30th wedding anniversary and we’ve got better things to do first. After getting reacquainted with my wife 8), I smoke something, I can’t remember what it was, but it WAS good. Finally make it to the corner restaurant next door to Bulldog’s around noon. A good meal and we're off. It’s another great day :D , cold, a slight wind and possible rain, so we decide to walk across the street to the Rijskmuseum….the place was packed with a line going out the gate, same with the Van Gogh, so we head off to the Albert Cupymarket. Always see interesting people and interesting things for sale at the cupy. We buy a couple of things, and then find our way over to the Katsu. Walked by a corner shop that was doing a brisk business selling fireworks, I was tempted to go in, but it was a little to busy. Found the Katsu, with the same nice lady we encountered last October. Pretty busy so early in the afternoon…found a small table in the back and got both of us something to drink. I was going to buy some Black Widow, to compare what I’m growing, but instead bought a ½ gram of outdoor Sensi Star for 5 euros….good buzz, crappie taste. Nothing against Katsu, still a good place, just a bad choice on my part.
Headed back to hotel to drop off day’s gatherings, relax for awhile, then head down stairs to Rookies for beers and a few Vapo’s of that MMG from Grey Area. We walk up to the Rembrandtplein for dinner at Coco’s, but you couldn’t find a seat anywhere. We walked around the area before deciding on heading back and eating closer to the Hotel, with so many restaurants, finding one wouldn’t be too hard. Of course I had to make a little detour to Stix first, for a gram of Gunpowder, more on this later. Found a nice Gaucho restaurant close to the hotel for dinner. Very good dinner, quite and relaxing.
We thought a little entertainment was in order to top off the evening, so we walked over to Boom Chicago for some laughs. We got there at 8:00pm for the 8:15 show, only to find out that they didn’t have enough paying people to do a show. :x Wound up at Rookies for a little while, then walked over to Noon for a gram of Blueberry. The Blueberry at the Noon always a nice blueberry taste…sweet. We headed back to our room, but not before stopping at a nice little pub close to the hotel for a couple of beers to finish off the evening.

No, the B.W. was on the menu...2 grams for 20 euros. I'm growing this right now so just wanted to compare, but after seeing the outdoor Sensi Star at 5 euros for 1/2 gram I went that direction instead. Wasn't really impressed with the Sensi Star. :(
