First time to Amsterdam

Post by foxflag »

First of all, great board, I have read hours of reports, questions, comments, etc. Thanks everyone for your imput.

Wife & I going to Dam in Feb for 6 days staying at hotel near Zoo. Both are light smokers of bud and hash but we want to try it. We are looking for a quiet comfy couch coffee shop to get started. We are leaning towards GreenHouse Tolstraat. Is that a good place to begin? We like cerebral high, feeling up, and go on little adventures with a buzz on. Not looking to getting so hammered we have to crawl back to bed in Hotel.

I think STIX, Amnesia, TweedKamer, Bluebird is what we might like. Your thots? What hash & weed really rock your taste buds. We love the tasty, fruity aftertaste. Any suggestions?

Read about Palais Het Loo near Apeldoorn as a day trip. That sounds well worth checking out. Maybe a day trip to Haarlem too.

Thanks in advance, really lookin' forward to our trip.

Welcome to ACD, you're staying in a nice part of town not too far from all the coffeeshops and other attracetions but in a far nicer environment than the Red Light District and Centrum in general.

I'm not that familiar with coffeeshops near to the zoo but within a decent and fairl scnic stroll you've got Stix and Basjoe which would be perfect by the sound of it. Both have good service, good value smoke and nice atmospheres.

I'd personally stay clear of the Greenhouse chain, in my experience both the smoke and drinks are over priced, the shops are crowded and the staff can be rude. You're better off staying with the slightly less touristy shops in my opinion.

Well, have a great trip and don't be shy with the questions :D

Recommended reading for all first time Amsterdam visitors.

Stick with Sativas for the uplifting high rather than the Indica couch lock.

If you want your trip listed on the Whos In Town page, just let me know.

Welcome.I would definitly try to get to Haarlem, cool town.As far as hash that tastes great, I would recommend morrocans, like Carmello Cream from Barneys or Royal Cream from the Old Church.

Great suggestions. Thanks for the replies. We will definately walk to Stix & Basjoe to start out. A visit to the Botantical garden, Vondel Park, and the Zoo are on our schedule. Is the Van Gogh and Riijsmusuem well worth seeing? What else have people really enjoyed and thought was worthwhile seeing while in Amsterdam?

Lookin' forward to our trip and spending some time relaxing and smoking in a few coffeeshops. It would be fun to join up with some who have given us tips, suggestions. I think we will skip on Greenhouse chain now after reading what JayK wrote. Too pricey, rude, & crowded.

Thanks philly-rich for the tasty hash tips. (Enjoyed following how Garcia led the Eagles the last 6 games, totally unreal how andy reid chose to punt on 4th and 15 with under two min to go against the Saints.)
